“GrandLuxe - Far from luxury”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

Although the atmosphere and seats were upscale, the gourmet food (as advertised) was far from enjoyable and drink prices were outrageous. When we first entered The Grand Theatre we were unaware that to get GrandLuxe tickets there was a separate entrance. This could have been prevented if there were signs to indicate GrandLuxe from the regular movie theatre. This would have saved us time, as we purchased “regular” tickets then walked to the GrandLuxe theatre area and even went into the movie and sat down, management then entered and told us we were in the wrong area of the theatre, that this was separate from the “regular” movie theatre although they are in the same building. Again this could have been prevented with adequate signs or even a rope to block the hallway which led to the GrandLuxe theatre. Overall the incident was uncalled for, as it seemed that this business has not been in operation long or management has not effectively planned to handle situations such as this one. Our experience was so disappointing that we refunded our tickets and left.

“Neat experience, but overpriced”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

My husband and I visited the Grandluxe Theatre in Greensboro after trying out something similar in Charleston. When you arrive they will check ids (21+ only are admitted) and let you select your own seats. My husband had picked ours out online ahead of time. Tickets are around $9 for a matinee and $12 for an evening show. A host shows you to your seats and explains how the theatre 'works' if you've never visited before. You are given menus and have time to browse before a server comes. (Note: it is best to show up early so you have time to order!) The menu included a variety of drinks, flatbreads, salads, specialty sandwiches and appetizers. You could order gourmet popcorn and candy as well. We ordered a cheese plate, a salad, and a flat bread. My husband had two beers and I had a Coke and our bill was over $60. The cheese plate and salad were good, but my flatbread did not have much flavor. The theater itself was nice, with good picture and sound quality. Be advised that your experience here will be very different than normal, as people are eating and moving around a bit more during the movie which creates some extra noise.
