“Lovely place for a walk through history”

Nice trails for biking, jogging or just walking. Statues of Revolutionary War abound, so you can take a walk through history as you stroll through the park.

“Significant Site, great staff, fascinating event”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

The Battle of Guilford Courthouse was one of the hardest-fought of the entire American War for Independence. I've heard it referred to as "The Super Bowl of the American Revolution" because both the US and British forces had their very best troops on the field. The First Maryland facing the Brigade of Guards, the Virginia Rifles against the Hessian Regiment vonBose and 71st Highlanders. The 23rd Regiment, Royal Welch Fusiliers and 33rd (Lord Cornwallis' own regiment) in the woods of the 2nd Line. Many of the NC Militiamen were former veteran Continental soldiers, no longer the untrained farmers and shopkeepers of 1776! The museum is very well done and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The electric map and film programs are well wort the time. If you're lucky enough to be there on a day when the Colonial Heritage Center (formerly Tannenbaum Park) is open, there is a magnificant diorama containing some 900 hand-painted figures illustrating the three primary phases of the battle. It's a great place to spend an hour or a day immersed in history.

“History under your feet”
Reviewed December 24, 2013

On a visit to see my daughter in Greensboro (they have just moved there ) we went for a short walk !! well the walk to the park is 10 mins from where they live, but the park is large but "wow" so interesting .We strolled to the visitors center and then followed the trail around and around looking at various small (not all are small ) some are huge monuments, dedicated to both British and American soldiers who fell during the conflict .All have a small description of who when where ,so it makes sense. As we were there in December the trees were bare, but I bet in the summer in full leaf the place must be beautiful .The visitors center has a large car park and I noticed one on the other side of the road so parking shouldn't be a problem . If you are into early history then to be honest this place is a must .

“Wonderful explore”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

A pleasant journey back in time. I got the CD tour and did a mix of exploring by car and foot. Well signed so you can understand what happened here the park is well used by the locals. I planned on spending an hour or so and happily spent all day.

“Great place for a family!”
Reviewed December 13, 2013

This is a great area for having a picnic with family, a stroll in the park, or playing a quick game of frisbee! It is especially beautiful in the fall when the leaves begin to change colors!
