“The new Sciquarium is a don't miss, and the zoo is great”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Go. Go on a weekday so you have a chance of getting into the parking lot. We spent seven hours there on a Tuesday and could have stayed even longer. The nature center features a museum (weather exhibits, the requisite dinosaur room, and a really nice display of minerals), a smallish zoo (but it is wonderful), and the new crowning glory, the Sciquarium - which is in the process of expanding just two months after it opened. In the Sciquarium toy get up close to a fisher cat, 11 (so far) African penguins, river otters, stingrays, sharks, an anaconda, a two-toed sloth, and lots of fish. You can stroke the rays in the jar or exhibit, watch the penguins feeding and molting, and ask Alison, who presents the exhibits to the visitors, anything you want. Outside, the zoo has meerkats, tortoises, java baboons, howler monkeys, etc., but the best were the tigers - who prowl around the exhibit right outside the viewing window, so close you could touch them, were it not for the glass, and the giant anteater in the maned wolf enclosure. If you gave not seen a giant anteater, you are missing something fascinating and unusual. There is a very good cafe where you can get fresh fruit and excellent sandwiches (try the paninis) and a gift shop with good-quality, inexpensive stuffed animals for sale.

“SciQuarium is a great addition”

Loved the penguin display, this place stays so busy its hard to see everything in one visit. Kinda high dollar for a local place in the economy we live in but may go back again

“Great day trip for kids or grand kids”

Some of it is a little old, but some is brand new. There are not a huge amount of animals, but enough to keep you interested. The planetarium has shows every hour. There are also a few bathrooms and all interior spaces are air conditioned. Additionally there is a snack area

“Love it!!!”

We have frequent flier miles at this place. It's easy to loose track of time and spend a whole day here. Highly recommend. New aquarium part is small but very well done. It's worth to have an annual pass and it will be beneficial for kids and adults alike
