“Great Place for a Wedding or a Weekend Getaway”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

My husband and I attended a wedding at the Grandover Resort last weekend. It was amazing. The check-in was seamless and the staff very attentive and nice – from the bellman to the front desk agent to the concierge. Everyone was so welcoming and wanted to assist us. The hotel facilities were also superb. The café, spa, pool, bar – everything was great and clean. I especially enjoyed the outdoor seating area since the weather was beautiful. Our room had a gorgeous view of the golf course and each room had a fridge, which was a nice touch. The wedding was amazing and the staff was great. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone having a wedding in the Greensboro area.

Room Tip: Request a top floor for a great view.

We recently attended Wedding at this resort. Elegant decor and spaciousness of all lobby makes this resort great place to hold wedding. staff was very polite and prompt for service.Guest rooms are not that elaborating but OK for the price we paid. Bar service in lawn was very slow. Felt little odd standing in line for over 20 min. But overall it was great experience.

I visited the Grandover resort on business. It is nicely located on a very good golfcourse. The hotel itself has been open between 12 and 14 years. It is a very nice and attractive facility. But it is starting to show its age. Wallpaper in the bathroom was starting to peel back. The rooms have a good flat screen television and the bathrooms were marble . In comparison to other luxury properties it is showing its age.
The cafe/restaurant has a great buffet breakfast that included fresh omeletes.
I will stay here again but I am not sure it really is a luxury property anymore.

Room Tip: ask for a room on a higher floor that overlooks the golfcourse.

My stay at the Grandover Resort was nice. The hotel itself was very comfortable and the staff was friendly and accomodating. The check in process went smoothly and the room was clean. The lobby has a nice old world feel to it and the rooms are relaxing. The dining room offers a nice menu that will please most.

Stayed here recently for business for four nights. For the corporate rate I paid, the Grandover Resort is a great value, and even at their regular rates, it's a good value and definitely a recommend. The hotel property is very nice, the main lobby is a grand, neoclassic French baroque style mixed with the dark woods and stone of a great lodge. The small bar is located in the center of the main area between the lobby and dining room. It's small, and is more suited for cocktails than hanging out (no draft beer), If you're with a group, relax in one of the two lounge areas that flank the bar, each with sofas and chairs in front of a huge stone fireplace. The first floor is expansive with many meeting/conference rooms on each side of long hallways. Head to the back, and you'll end up in the game room/cafe where they server bottled beer, snacks, a bar menu, etc. This looks like a cool place to hang, with two pool tables and a few other games. Heading to the left of the lobby will eventually bring you to the golf pro shop, locker rooms, another bar (that was closed when I was there), the spa/health club and then the pool. The indoor/outdoor pool is beautiful, and although I didn't swim, it looked enticing. There's a whirlpool, and the indoor pool features a decorative waterfall and connects to the outdoor pool which is open in warmer weather. The outdoor pool is surrounded by a large curving patio, and looks like it would be a lot of fun in the summer months. My only criticism would be that it's pretty far from the lobby elevators so traipsing through the meeting room areas with a bunch of wet kids to and from would be a little annoying. Maybe there's a shortcut to the rooms or another elevator that I didn't find.

I ate breakfast and several meals in the restaurant, and it's okay. The menu isn't huge, there's not much of a theme, it's a bit overpriced and the quality of the food was okay. If you're staying here for more than one or two nights and want full dinners, plan on checking out some of the (not so) local restaurants. The service in the restaurant, and in the hotel in general was business friendly, but nothing special. The staff didn't go out of their way to engage me, there were a few minor annoyances, and this is probably the reason I rated the Grandover a four instead of a five. What appeared throughout my stay to be a large bell staff looked like they were available to be helpful, but never were. They were good at standing around with their hands clasped behind their backs chatting with each other and sometimes you would get a greeting or acknowledgement from them.

My room with a king size bed was fantastic. Spacious and comfortable, the room was great. The TV is large, the bed/pillows perfect, a small refrigerator in a cabinet and sink were in one corner and the large windows looked out to a beautiful view of the golf course. The bathroom was also spacious, and the bath/shower was large with plentiful hot water and a strong shower stream (sorry, pet-peeve of mine). The room/bathroom were spotless clean when I checked in, and every day the same standard of housekeeping was met. I'm somewhat of a mess, and really enjoyed coming home each day to a freshly made-up and perfectly clean room. If there's more than one of you staying in the room, you may have to ask for more towels, unless they provide more based on your reservation. The housekeeping staff definitely deserves kudos.

With a very good rating from me, and what looks to be other good reviews from travelers, if you stay here, I doubt you will be disappointed. I'll be back on business, and would definitely consider bringing my family along on one trip when the weather is nicer. Can't say much about the golf, fees, facilities, etc., but the courses looked nice. Enjoy your stay!

We stayed the weekend after Valentine's Day and had a great weekend. The snow was beautiful. The staff is very helpful. I had called ahead to inquire about restaurant suggestions off site and I was given some great choices. The spa was also very helpful. I was able to get on a waiting list and as luck would have it, something opened up and we were able to book additional spa services.

The rooms are showing their age a bit, but not too bad. The late checkout at noon is nice as well. There are nicer properties in Greensboro, but for the price, this is the best deal.

Room Tip: A room with a view of the golf course is well worth it.

We Chose to stay here with the Valentine's Day Package...loved everything about the Grandover. We live in Greensboro and this is my favorite neighborhood, so I am so glad I decided to give it a try...a great decision. Will come again...especially for the Prime Rib dinner...excellent!!
The room was spacious with great views of the Golf Course and waterfall, it snowed last weekend so we couldn't walk the grounds but ended up with a winter wonderland-like feel. While there you feel like you are miles and miles from the city, yet you are right near a few of the busiest areas in the city.
The staff on all levels was excellent. Check-in quick and friendly. This will be a Valentine's tradition from now on!

Room Tip: You definitely want to have a room with a view of the golf course/waterfall.
