My stay at Stanley's Kopje Camp and the safari in Mikumi is one of those experiences that I will carry with me forever. It was just wonderful, and so easily accessible from Dar. Maybe not easily accessible, but accessible none the less. Everyone told us it was a 4 hour drive. It was more like 6 hours.
Anyhow. We got there a bit late and were afraid that we would not be allowed to enter the park. Kate the manager was so nice though. We kept in contact the whole way there, and she talked to the rangers for us so that we would be let in.
Our first night at Stanley's, we were the only guests. We got the best meal (which had been held warm for us, in spite of our late arrival) and our tent was amazing! Pure luxury, as tents go. We woke up early in the morning to sit at our platform watching the sunrise and the savannah waking up. We went for a game drive and then watched the sunset from our platform. It was so beautiful we actually cried.
I have nothing to complain about when it comes to Stanley's. It's just perfect!
