Spent two nights in very unusual "Beehive Huts". Stunning views and surrounding area.

All meals were included , in the price, and every evening you are seated at a different table in a different part of the lodge. It was chilly in the evenings and fires were lit and and lovely atmosphere was created. Hot water bottles placed in your beds and heater switched on while you are at dinner.

We felt that the food was not up to standard for the rates charged, and for the price we expected at least proper butter and not margarine. Perhaps for the rate, a choice of two mains should be offered.

We went on a cultural Zulu tour of the area and the battelfields, which was really interesting and the highlight of our stay.

We mrt a lovely couple and their family, which mad it extra special for us.

Room Tip: All the rooms appear to be the same.

everytime i write something i try to make it different to capture the uniqueness of the different places we stayed...we spent 3 nights here and found the time very enjoyable, Brian Christy Vic and Martin were a great factor in ensuring we had a good time at the lodge, The beehive hut rooms were secluded and comfortable and our had a great view over the valley..the pool (although too cold for my tastes) was in a great location and also offered a view in a different direction...meals were good with opportunity to have wildebeast sausage at breakfast :) more to my liking then my missus...as the lodge is on a large parcel of property with no dangerous game we spend a few hours each day walking the trails and exploring...the zulu dancers were good, although due to wet weather it was at the lodge itself and not in the "village" or main reason though to stay here was to see the battles sites at rorkes drift and isandlawana, and it didnt dissapoint, Mike Nel was a great story teller as we sat in the rain under poncho's...he kept things interesting for sure, very appreciated Mike and if you read this, send me your address as i have something to send you...We met some great people while we were there and hope to visit them sometime, someday...all told this was a experience and would come back again.

Good location for the Zulu battlefields.
Very friendly staff.
Zulu dancers excellent.
Food very good, although we found the Zulu food rather heavy for us.
I do not think that I should be pushed to write more than I want to. I was told that before I wrote this last sentence that I was 46 characters short - ridiculous!

We stayed two nights at Isibindi in January,we were the only guests!!! which surprised us both and we had such a wonderful time, Christy & Brian were excellent hosts. The highlight for me was the Zulu Battlefields Tour with local guide Mike Nel,again my partner helena & i were the only 2 on the tour, it was like a one on one for me, he was fantastic describing everything in both english & zulu,a very memorable, historic day for me,i had waited 48 years to be here ever since i was 10 years old & saw the film "zulu" and the zulu evening of local dancers and an authentic cooked meal around the fire was absolutely wonderful, all the staff were courteous and accomodating, the thunderstorm awesome, the room comfertable, the food excellent and we are definitely going back,

After 28 hours travelling from the winter in Oslo it was fantastic to be welcomed with a nice dinner late in the evening by charming Christine and the friendly staff at this fantastic place. In the daylight next morning we were amazed by the stunning view. After a big breakfast we visited a Zulu home and were charmed by all the nice kids swarming around us (bribed with sweets from the guide), Dinner outdoors by the bonfire after fantastic dance performances from the local school was like a fairy-tale. We staid two nights only but would have liked to staid longer. This is a place we really recommend to visit.

Had a fatastic stay at the Lodge . Everyone was so friendly and ensured our stay was memorable. Food was great and the accomodation was fanastic in traditional beehive huts.

We went on the tour of the Zulu battlefields and Rorke's drift with Mike Nel. He bought the battle ground to life with his enthusiastic story telling with a mixture of Zulu and English.

Mike also took us on a our of the Zulu homelands and to a exceptional point at the top the mountain with a view to die for.

Truely memorable and would recommend this experience to anyone

Room Tip: All rooms are in beehive style chalets whith views accross the valley. (PS there is no fitness centr...

Isibindi is a charming ecolodge set in the heart of KwaZulu Natal.it is an ideal stop for touring the battlefields. We were recommended an especially good local guide for this tour.
The surprise was that the lodge put an a "zuzlu" evvening where we had dancers from local schools , a demonstration of how the Zulu people lived in their "beehive" style rondavels and then a typical Zulu meal served on wooden boards in the boma. the other night our food was served on the terrace ouside the lodge. The staff and manager were terrific.Food was good. our rooms, in "beehive style" were lovely and very comfortable with private decking and views out onto their own land, on which one afternoon we were taken on a game drive. The lodge stocks a small amount of local made handicraafts. Their ethos is to showcase and work with the local people and help them with schooling fees as well as employing them. We stopped there for the accessibility to thebattlefields but were so glad it had been recommended to us as it was such a super and intimate place. It has a small infinity pool again overlooking their land, which consists of plains, bush and river whixh we criscrossed several times ion our drive. You can also hike on the land as there are no dangerous predators but we ran out of time.
