We stayed here as we wished to visit the battlefields. We stayed in self catering, which was very well equipped , with spacious bedroom, large walk in shower with views which are hard to beat.
Whilst it's a bit of the beaten track, this should not put you off and would recommend Rorkes Drift lodge to anyone.
The staff are attentive without being overbearing and offer menus if you wish to have meals cooked for you and delivered to your lodge.

This place is a true gem. After a long drive and the experience of the "Farm Track" we relaxed and enjoyed a superb meal delivered to our lodge by friendly attentive staff. The accommodation was first class and the views spectacular. Breakfast was well presented and offered more than enough to keep us going during our Rorkes Drift tour. The lodge arranged our tour with Thulani. He gave us an excellent animated account of the Zulu people and the battles. He also went the extra mile to help us when we had a puncture. Wonderful place, lovely people

An amazing place - our 'room' consisted of a pleasant living room (with terrace and lovely views) with kitchenette and a completely detached rondeval with 1st floor bedroom and spiral staircase down to the bathroom - amazing! We chose the catered option and a lovely girl set the table in our living room, delivered the delicious food and cleared up afterwards - perfect! The purpose of our visit was to visit the Zulu war sites. The lodge recommended Paul Garner as a guide and we had the most amazing day - Paul really knew his stuff and made the places and battles come alive - Thankyou and best wishes. After a very long drive the experience of the farm track was one we won't forget but the signs do make it quite entertaining. On arrival we were quickly shown our lodge and were most impressed with the facilities. Although we were both ill with upset tummies during our stay. ( Something we brought with us and not the fault of the Lodge) We did have some great food and using the outdoor Braai was a great experience . The highlight for me was the fishing trip with Shane. Thanks again mate.

Thank you for taking the time to review our Lodge. We appreciate all feedback and certainly the road to Rorke's Drift Lodge has been a point of discussion for the past 11 years. Thank you for pointing out that it is signposted as we try to make the journey as easy as possible. It has been an interesting experience for us when we suddenly had to become "roadbuilders" and not just Lodge owners.

A truly wonderful place to stay especially when doing the battlefield tours. Much better value for money compared to other establishments in the area. They also recommended I use a local certified Zulu tour guide Thulani who was exceptional and who provided wonderfully refreshing alternative historical viewpoints. While the food was very tasty the servings were unusually small and unable to satisfy my average dietary needs. Am very happy to have made this serendipitous discovery.......Dr Bruce Copley

Wow, what a great experience.. When my folks and I arrived at Rorke's Drift Lodge, we had a lovely warm welcome, we were shown to our unit, and everything was clean and well organised.
I had the opportunity to go on a lovely out ride with Christine the next morning which was fantastic and fast paced which was most enjoyable. The food was excellent and the staff friendly. Home away from home. Thank you & my love to Max and Roxy. Kind regards Kate Hicks & Family.

Great location and beautiful views. Wonderful accommodation with the most attentive host.
The rooms are beautifully appointed.
Service was outstanding.
A little far from the Rourkes Drift battlefield (+/- 10 km dirt road) but the service, hospitality and the comfort more than make up for this.
The drinks and food were a little expensive but you are allowed to bring your own and cater for yourselves, as the rooms are all self catering.
The food portions were generous, delicious and was wonderfully presented.
You will have a wonderful experience at Rourkes Drift Lodge!!!

Room Tip: Watertank room
