In this amazingly beautiful landscape, mountains on both sides of the valley where a big river flows, is a gem of a lodge. Very eco-friendly (solar panels, water from the river) beautifully designed in a minimalist spirit and all natural colors and materials, the lodge is comfortable and open to the surrounding marvels. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent. Many things to see and do: boat trip on the river, drive down in the valley with many animals and visit to a Himba camp, very interesting. To manage to create such a gem in the middle of nowhere is a small miracle. Two small details: the external showers are fantastic: warm strong, and you will never have a better view in your shower... On the down side, the tents above the bungalow are quite noisy when the wind blows. We told the owner, and he said he was going to fix it...
We will return...

Room tip: Best ones are room 5 and 6 overlooking the river

We stayed at the Okarongo River Camp at the very end of 2012 and experienced a true fairy tale! 5 star service in the wild! Delicious food cooked and served with passion, dedicatet stafff and very professional management. The surrounding area is lovely : a trip on the Kunene river, a drive in the Moon Valley, a natural Jacuzzzi, a meeting with the most remote people of the Himba tribe. All in absolute safety and care! We had booked for 2 days but asked to stay on an extra day.....

Room tip: Vista Kunene
