When a hotel is recommended by trip advisor I guess you have high expectations. When we arrived at Dar Zitoune I thought it was beautiful. Decor is gorgeous, garden lovely, view absolutely breathtaking. But looks aren't everything. Initially the owner was really charming, but he soon disappeared after we had ordered an evening meal (hotel is quite a way from anywhere so this seemed a good option). However as evening drew in and it got cold, and our room started to smell of drains there was no one to be found anywhere! When another younger man appeared, he said there was a leak in the drain, sprayed air freshner and instead of lighting the stove (I chose this room because of photos of an open fire, but the stove would have been ok) he just brought an electric heater (begrudgingly). The meal was equally as un-atmospheric - no fire, bollywood on the telly and a tagine that was burned and meatless - the worst we'd had in Morocco for 300dh. However worse was to come, when we returned to our room the drain smell has got worse. We asked to be moved, he huffed and puffed, showed us the room next door that was equally smelly. We stuffed a wet towel over the drain and opened bathroom windows and shut the door... still be were woken at 3am with the smell. I actually think it was really unhealthy - sewer gas poising is a reality! We both slept really badly -bad dreams... feeling ill. In the morning after an uninspiring breakfast (not even fresh bread) we decided to leave, but as we had booked two nights the man said we needed to pay for both. At that point I lost it and said I needed to speak to the owner. When he appeared he was again charming and apologetic, charged us for the one night (the least he could do). My advice is don't book this hotel in the next few days unless they say drains have been fixed.

Nice location, breathtaking view from the terrasse, quiet and clean.
Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated.
We have been disappointed however by the lack of service. The maid would speak only arabic and the host welcomed us briefly and then disappeared. We had to wait more than 1 hour to get a breakfast. The swimming pool was dirty.
Some more care would do very good.

We were staying in this riad for our honey moon for 8 nights. The service was really kind, pleasant and helpful, specially Amin who is the only one who speaks English really good. Room was very comfortable and clean. The owner and Amin helped us with renting a car and showing us a paragliding start. We were a bit disappointed because the swimming pool was out of order and since we booked and paid accommodation with this service and were unable to use it, we did not receive any discount on this account. Also, there is a huge sign that all paragliding pilots have SPECIAL TARRIFS in this riad but no discount has been granted either, stating that we need to report that we are paragliding pilots before we come, but there is no information about this procedure anywhere in their web site or any other site. Also a bit disappointed with WI-FI since it works slowly only in circle of 2-3 meters of common area. No internet access in the rooms. BUT...we have to praise the food in riad as it was the best we eat in Morocco, although really expensive ( our suggestion is to ask for the price before you order since there is no price list there) Overall rate would be 4.

One of the best views I've seen in Morocco. This place is awesome, the surrounding countryside is amazing and the food was the best we had in our entire trip. The hospitality was top notch and super friendly, I highly highly recommend a trip here.
P.S. if you like paragliding this is also the number 1 destination in Morocco

Made a prolonged afternoon stop here after a trip to Imlil from Marrakech.
My son was feeling unwell and was well looked after by the wonderful staff whilst the rest of us passed the afternoon in the gorgeous gardens with the magnificent view.
Highly recommended !
