Owner description: One of the most beautiful, scenic and tranquil locations on the Kenyan Coast is now home to a five-star private residential golfing destination, Vipingo Ridge. The exclusive 2,500 acre residential estate is centered around an outstanding Clubhouse with a 18-hole championship golf course. The Clubhouse and the first of the two 18 hole golf courses is already completed and open for residents and guests to enjoy. The estate also boasts abundant other treasures including a beach club, private airstrip, numerous lakes, woodland areas and nature trails; bringing together harmoniously a range of elements of luxury living within a secure, walled and gated community. With so much to offer, Vipingo Ridge is undoubtedly becoming a most desirable residential address, a must for any golfer and the ultimate holiday destination.

Not being a golfer we only visited this place to see the view, we were a bit taken aback at having to pay for entrance to drive up and look about, but assured we could get a refund against purchases at the club. Yes you can but expect to be messed about as nothing is straight forwards. It was a bit exasperating having to join to then get a refund..All we waned was lunch and a drink.
That said the food was nice enough, prices not out of this world.
Personally I found it a bit uncomfortable seeing such extravagant wealth and loads of water used to keep things green when a couple of miles away there was a water shortage going on. On the plus side they do seem to employ a lot of local staff. The place is certainly a show case!

Dear Andie C,

Thank you for taking the time to review Vipingo Ridge. We have on average 400 staff at any given time at Vipingo Ridge with over 50% being from the immediate area. Furthermore another 20% from the surrounding coastal region.

In order to increase on what we offer to non golfers we have acquired a Private Beach Club, Somali Ponies, Mountain Bikes, Quad Bikes. There has been a lot of investment into irrigation systems; including a computerized sprinkler system with the recycling of water and the efficient use of this most valuable resource being one of our topmost priorities.

We are training our security staff so as to make your approach to Vipingo Ridge smooth and inviting. We maintain the gate fee however; but the process of claiming it at the Clubhouse has been greatly improved.

We look forward to your next visit.

This is the second time I have played the course and it doesnt fail to disappoint. The course as the name suggests is up on a ridge so you get a nice breeze blowing just to take the edge of the Kenyan sun. The course is well maintained and challenging enough for all levels of golf. The clubhouse has all the required amenities and a perfect setting for a cool beverage after a round. It is only abut 30 mins from Nyali and affords a great view of the coast. Well worth a visit.

A beautiful club house on top of the splendid 18 holes golf course. Nice view of the ocean and the suset. Cool breeze and good drinks and food.

Vipingo Ridge Gold Course has amazing views, a brilliant course and very competent caddies, the actual golfing is excellent and very enjoyable with a lovely sea breeze to help you play on the front nine holes. The 18th Hole has an almost perfect setting with the terracotta Club House ahead.
The Club House is very majestic, beautiful shower & changing rooms but the actual catering facilities are very poor. Recently we played and ordered some coffees & croissants, it was expensive and the quality was very poor. I understand the actual golf course is not very busy and its difficult to keep the food quality high when there is not many people using the club house but they should really be looking towards the Spanish Courses where the good golf is usually followed up with club houses offering a very quality of food and good prices.
With some tweaking Vipingo Ridge could get 5* !
