This is my favorite place to stay while in Gatlinburg. I have been making the journey from Louisville to here for about 10 years.

What originally drew me to this resort was it's location. I was on a drive up Upper Alpine Way (that I swear was layed out by a snake) and took a wrong turn. I found the Gatlinburg Summit perched at the top of Ski View Drive keeping watch over the valleys below. I say valleys because you actually get good views of both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg although Pigeon Forge is clearer.

The staff at the front desk has always been courteous going out of their way to make sure my stay has been enjoyable. They always have fresh towels and bed linens should you need them. The office lobby has all of the traditional tourist books and coupons laying around.

Each of the condos are owned by individuals and decorated according to their unique styles. I have my favorites of course.

For those needing the privacy of a couple of bedrooms, I recommend unit 5102. It was updated in the summer of 2008 and has a very warm, inviting feel to it. Don't worry there are no strange mauve or weird green tones or textured wallpaper to make you feel like you are in a vacation rental. It has a small kitchen with dishwasher, stove, and microwave. There is enough cabinet space to stock up on food if you get snowed in.
There is a dining room table and four chairs for eating that sits next to the living room which has a couple of couches and entertainment center. The fireplace was redone as well with custom moldings and drystacked stone. The balcony offers breathtaking views of the Smokies and Pigeon Forge. The only sound I heard when I stood overlooking God's handywork was my own breathing.

There are two bedrooms in the condo, one with a queen size mattress and the other with two twins (which can be moved together. The two full baths flank either bedroom and are always clean.

For more of a 'smokey mountain' feel, you definitely need to reserve unit 7303. I use it when I am by myself or with another friend. Although there is certainly enough room for a family of four to stay there comfortably. The room has loft bedroom accessed by a spiral staircase. It also has a pull out couch and day bed that overlooks the mountains. The daybed is awesome because it literally hangs off the unit like a bay window. It has sliding windows that allow you to sleep with the night breezes making their way inside. Since you're several stories above the forest, there are no worries about unwanted visitors (bears) stopping by.

The loft unit was decorated by a local decorator who has her own shop, Mountain Visions Gallery, on the Artist Loop. She did such a great job of putting a touch of the Smokies into every square foot of the condo, from the loft bedroom and full bath to the kitchenette and living area.

After a long day of hiking, you can enjoy in either the outdoor or heated indoor pool. Don't forget a dip in one of their extra clean hot tubs. Enjoy!

Thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. It had all the amenities you could possibly need, including large living area, microwave, oven, fridge, and a fireplace in each room! Also, they had an inside AND outside pool, sauna room, and hot tub on the premises. Not to mention the great view from the balcony looking out to the mountains and the city below. It was about a 15 minute drive from the main tourist streets of Gatlinburg, which we were pleased to be away from a little bit. There is a convenient store within about 8 minutes if you need simple things like milk, snack, or beer. Price was also quite nice given all that you get. The hotel is somewhat dated, but that didn't bother me too much. We hiked around in the Smoky Mountains quite a bit and this place was great to relax after all that. Highly recommended!

I loved our stay and the view was amazing!!! We were really up there. The condo was a bit dated, but perfect. We loved the woodburning fireplace and enjoyed the "above the clouds" stay. We will be back.

This place has the best views in all Gatlinburg, even better than paying for a skylift, Space Needle, or any other such things. We had a group of 7 people, one being a baby, and were able to get a three bed, two bath rental for an amazing price. The kitchenette, though small, had ample provision for us all to cook a meal at least once a day (to save money) and eat around the nice dining room table that seated six comfortably. The entertainment center and balcony provided great relaxation time and we could all sit around the living room and enjoy time together. The pool was great, and were the views mentioned? The only problem is the Summit is at the summit of the mountain, meaning many twisty, curvy roads up and down. But with all they offer, amenities, indoor and outdoor pool, the views, it was an excellent choice, especially for the number of people.

We stayed at the summit for New Year's Eve. It is an older condo complex, but had everything we needed. The unit was somewhat clean (a cookie left on the table and crumbs under the table) the bathrooms and kitchen were clean and the beds were comfortable. The views and the fireworks were great. It is a great place to stay to avoid the traffic in town!! We watched the Ober Gatlinburg tram go up and down the mountain also. We did not use the pools or hot tub, so can't comment on those. The girl who was working the front desk the day we checked in could use a personality boost, but the lady who was there upon checkout was much better. Nice place for the money, no doubt.
