“Clean! Nice location great staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012 via mobile

We stayed here after staying a night in the Greystone @ the Aquarium. Light years ahead lol. Sme have complained about the "resort fee" which albeit is a joke to say the least. They do have an indoor pool, it's just out in the parking lot but clean. The breakfast was awesome, chef making omlets to order, waffles, cereal, biscuits and gravy. That alone saved a family of 4 30$ just in eating breakfast. Its right on the strip if you like to roam, although at the end it's close to some good food. TGI Fridays and Calhouns. Parking was a tad tight but they had an overflow lot that was also monitored by there security guard. I'll probably stay here again next trip just because we know it's clean

The Clarion Inn and Suites in right on the Gatlinburg Parkway which makes it easy to get from one end of the strip to the other without taking a car. The room was spotless with comfortable beds and nice thick towels. Breakfast was the best we have ever had in any hotel. There were omlettes or eggs made to order, waffles, yogurt, fruit, bagels, bisquits and gravy. Something for everone! The workers were all very nice and ready to please. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay.

We have stayed at this Clarion for 16-17 years and always loved it in the past. Everyone there always knew us when we came in and were very friendly.
We went back for the 4th of July and stayed 5 nights, this year (2012). When we arrived, there was no hello, there was one girl on 2 phones, one up to each ear. We waited and finally got waited on and to our room. My son was staying on a sofa bed, which, when we opened it up, found there were no sheets, none anywhere in the room. Also, the bed had a bar in the middle which we have always been given a 2nd mattress so you would not feel the bar. When we called downstairs for the mattress and sheets, we were told we would get no mattress because there aren't anymore. The sheets were brought to our room and we were told we could make the bed ourselves, which we did. A lot to expect for the large price we paid for this room and holiday weekend. We never expected we'd be having to make the bed up ourselves.
Anyway, we later found a maintenance man in the hall who had been there for years and recocnized us. He was very friendly and said that of course there was a mattress and went and got it for us.
Each time we went in or out of the hotel, the staff put their heads down, so not to have to speak.
We had a great time in the town, but the hotel was not nice at all. Totally different staff and not nice. As I said, we have gone there for years and been like family.
We went to the lobby on Thursday to book one more night since we had friends coming in. We were then told they had us leaving on Friday, not Saturday. We had originally booked through Saturday. I guess if we had not gone to the lobby, they would have taken our things out of our room and we would have had no room at all when we returned.
So that was a mess up in the reservations.
James also told us when we booked, that we needed 2 credit card numbers. We've never needed 2 before .
The one maintenance man and the kitchen staff were very friendly, and the one maintenance man who had been there for years.
We called main headquarters and they said the manager of the hotel had been left word to call and discuss this with us. The manager never called. We called corporate again and they again said the manager was to call. We ended up getting a letter from the manager saying they could find no mess up in reservations. If the manager would have called, like they should have, we would have told them what had happened.
The computers there are antique, they argued with us that they were new. They don't even make those monitors anymore.
The toaster was broken. There just many, many things done wrong. We should have been offered 4 free nights to make up for this, but they no longer care like the old staff and crew did.
Big disapointment. We've gone there too many years to be treated this way. When I wrote a private message on facebook to the manager in response to the letter, that was ignored too. So I wrote a message publicly, knowing this would probable be ignored. It was. Only good messages get posted, so no one really knows the truth. I would never go to another Choice hotel again/

Room Tip: Do not chose this hotel.

We recently booked a 2night stay through choice hotels, and when we got there was charged an additional $15/day resort fee plus tax on top of our already quote from choice hotels. This was out first stay at the Clarion but we thought we would give it a try. Our family of four visits Gatlinburg 3-4times per year and have stayed in a variety of different hotels. This hotel has nothning special to offer. The pool is enclosed but you have to walk outside to get there. The tub was slick and would be easy to fall in. The room had queen beds and were ok but the room was small. The lobby area dosen't have enough seating for breakfast, not to mention the long breakfast line you have to stand in since you can't self serve. The cook that was making omlets also was the server for the hot bar. No bacon on hot bar either and sausage links tasted like a big piece of pure fat. The only thing you get from this so called resort is a bigger price. It was clean but thats the only positive thing to really say. The staff was not that friendly either. We won't be back.

Room Tip: Don't have to go onto elevator if you stay on 2nd floor

We were involved with a conference at the hotel but decided to extend our stay and have some family time. We were able to have the conference rate all 3 nights which was awesome! The location was perfect and the free trolley service was excellent and took us everywhere we needed to go. The person we dealt with at check in was so nice and ensured that everything was as we wanted it. We were traveling with my dad and they made sure our rooms were close (across the hall from each other). We had a balcony overlooking the street which was exactly what we asked for. The room was a little smaller than I expected but that is more an issue with my expectation. The free breakfast was very tasty....the only problem was there really isn't enough space to accommodate the guests. It was super crowded and often times you were standing waiting for seating. I really don't know how they can fix it because space is limited. It was worth the inconvenience for a good, free breakfast. Definitely a good place to stay!

This Hotel for the last 6 years has been where our annual emergency service conference is held. Throughout the last 6 years we have had a wonderful staff. They have made sure everything was handled in a professional manner, while having all the comforts of our own home. The staff works round the clock during the 5 days that we sell out their hotel, YES I said sell out so you can only imagine how busy they are. The managers are often seen walking through the hotel and always greet our attendees with a smile and Hello. Even the Owner stops by from time to time. The hotel is very clean and decor has been newly updated. I would strongly suggest this hotel to all my friends and family.

Room Tip: The King Suites are my favorite!
