We visit 3 times a year. Rooms are large and clean. Wood burning fireplaces and private balcony along stream.Large pool with two slides and hot tub are always clean.Large grounds with playset for kids and basketball goals.Grills and tables along stream for picnics. Nice courteous staff always willing to accommodate you. Can walk to Gatlinburg or ride trolley. Just a nice setting for a family vacation or weekend trip.

We stayed in the resort for four nights during the week. We were there the first three nights on a "Groupon" special. For us the location was great... away from the main drag (E. Parkway instead of Parkway) but close to the areas we wanted to visit (nature drives and arts/crafts community, etc). It's a good size complex with a nice pool and park area with picnic tables and grills available. Our room had a balcony overlooking a beautiful stream and a nice fire place for the cooler months.
Not sure how old the resort is but it's beginning to show look old. The door was hard to open and close. The freezer didn't look like it had been defrosted in months and the refrigerator wouldn't stay cold. The carpet was nasty and there were wood chips from the fireplace logs around the fire place. The rooms and furniture was dated dinged, nicked and mismatched. Even though we were in a non-smoking room, they allow smoking on the balcony. Either the guests before had left the window or door open to the balcony when they took their smoke break or they had smoked in the room. Even thought the room had a small kitchenette it did not have utensils. There wasn't and iron and ironing board, you had to go to the front desk for those. The breakfast buffet wasn't anything special, three cereals, bagels, english muffins, biscuits and gravy and apples. The staff said they were trying to talk management into adding other items. The ice machine on our floor didn't work so we had to go to another floor.
After two nights we had to move to another room because the A/C was not working properly and the room wouldn't cool down. We were up-graded to a honeymoon suite which was actually clean and had utensils in the kitchenette and ironing board/iron. The first time we tried to come back to the room the door stuck and one of the maintenance men had to "kick-in" the door. He went and got his tools and fixed the door immediately afterwards.
All that sounds pretty bad but the staff and management were great. We stayed another night after they agreed to let us have the "Groupon" rate for the honeymoon suite for an additional night. We wanted to go to Cade's Cove and that gave us the opportunity. They were working on the third floor tearing out carpet, etc. so they may be up-grading and we caught them in the middle of it. Like I mentioned the management and staff were great and responded to our problems... but a lot of the problems we shouldn't have been having in the first place.
I couldn't say I wouldn't go back... but I'm sure it'd have to be a discounted rate.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the 4 story building. It has an elevator so no climbing stairs. It's also off t...

They put us in a different building this time and it seems to needs a little work. Overall it was ok, there was some mold on the walls in the shower and on the shower curtain. We love the fact that all of the rooms open up to the river. We would stay there again.

Got a living social deal that was super cheap for this hotel. I think if I would of had to pay full price I would of been a little disappointed.
But everything was clean, and the mattresses were ok. A little soft for me but no harm done to the back.
Our room had a new flatscreen tv but that appeared to be the only thing that has been updated in the room, examples being the wood paneling and the light fixtures that hang from chains that go down the wall. Kinda reminded me of my grandmothers house.
Pool was nice looking with slide and waterfall was just a little cold for us try it out.
So if you're on a budget and can get a deal I would say go ahead!

I've read the previous not so great reviews. We didn't see any of this during our stay.

We stayed in room 422. Large room, clean, looked newly renovated, balcony overlooking creek.

The breakfast was what we expected. Nothing great but basics to have something before heading out.

Amazing pools next to a huge tree that provides some shade for those of us that want to swim but not lay in the sun. The downside to that is the pools fill with the leaves that fall. Staff was out cleaning it every morning but by 2 it was full again. Not sure what the solution is. Maybe clean out the leaves every afternoon.

We definitely will not get the trolley day pass again. it was $2 for the day but since the trolleys only come every 40 minutes it took us 2 hours to get a couple miles. We could have spent $5 for parking and got there in minutes. Next time.

We would stay again.
