We stayed at the Buckhorn after reviewing all of our Gatlinburg options. Like many of the previous reviews, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Buckhorn to others. However, the quality of the stay can probably vary widely depending on the room you choose. We have the following observations based on our stay in the "Tower Room":

1) The Tower Room is nice for younger couples who do not mind stairs (there are three flights of stairs to get to the bedroom).
2) It is nice for people who do not mind tight quarters (it's rather small)
3) There is some (faint) noise from the kitchen that can be heard if you are on the second or first level (but I never heard it from the third level, where the bed is located).
4) The water pressure in the shower is extremely weak - this was probably my biggest disappointment from the stay.

The breakfast was tasty, but not suitable for those watching their weight or wanting healthy food. They had granola and yogurt available, but not options such as food made with healthier oils/meats/etc.

The Inn is not within walking distance of the Gatlinburg sites, but is actually about a 10-15 minute drive to the "touristy" area.

Finally, they add a "10%" gratuity to the total bill. While this is fully disclosed on the website prior to booking, because it is a required amount, they should just reflect this in the advertised price. After taxes and the required 10% gratuity, the total bill can be up to 35% higher than the price listed.

Overall it was a nice stay with great views and a quaint Inn. We would stay again if passing through the Gatlinburg area.

The Buckhorn Inn is truly an escape from the everyday. A quiet, secluded location, the inn is a place to unwind and re-charge the batteries. The gracious owners, John and Lee Mellor, take care of each guest on a personal level. Often, you will see them serving at either breakfast or dinner. The food is fabulous. We have stayed several times at the Buckhorn and have never been disappointed in every aspect. You can't go wrong with whatever accommodation you choose -- the cottages are slightly more expensive but afford more privacy, and the rooms in the Inn are also well appointed and feel private as well. The Inn is not far from Gatlinburg, but you might be enjoying yourself so much here that you might not want to leave!

This b&b does not get enough praise!! It was such a great deal! We booked the premier room #1 (for $175 a night). It is attached the main building and right off of the dining room. The room was huge and very clean. I worked in hotels so I am very picky! The view was worth every penny. To book the room, we called the inn and they charge you for one night stay when you book. The rate includes a 5 star breakfast as well. We got up very early our first morning so we were going to miss breakfast. We notified the staff and they brought us homemade granola cereal and bananas for our hike. We also booked dinner reservations at the inn for one night. The menu is set but everything was delicious. We had trout which hung off the plate it was so big! They do not serve beverages so you are allowed to bring your own. They had our wine sitting on the table when we arrived. The staff knew us by name and they were very accomodating. I cannot wait to go back and visit during the fall!!

First off I will say that the property and the views were gorgeous and the breakfast was quite delicious as well. However, this bed and breakfast was very disappointing. My boyfriend and I wanted a nice quiet Valentine's weekend but this was anything but. We chose room 5 and it was extremely small. There was also an abundance of noise. Both mornings we were awakened by 7am with the noise downstairs. One afternoon we tried to take a nap and there was a constant slamming of the door downstairs from people arriving early for dinner. We were also disturbed by two children running up and down the hall repeatedly. Although the area is charming and exactly what we were hoping for the size of the room and the noise will deter us from returning.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Inn for two nights and had a woderful experience. The only two complaints we had was that the mattress in our room was showing some signs of wear and the weather (it rained). And only one of those was under the inn's control. While the breakfast was good, the dinner was phenominal! I personally reccomend that anyone staying here (or anywhere else in Gatlinburgh for that matter) dine here at least one time,
