A luxury cabin with the emphasis on LUXURY! Everything is new and clean, from the home theater, to the marble counter tops, to the hot tub, furniture, bathrooms and flat screens in every room. The owners couldnt have been nicer, and were quick to respond to any question we had (although we had no problems that required their action). We just had such a fun time on this trip. Bear's Path is east of downtown Gatlinburg (past the main tourist crunch). This is ideal. Everything is right at the foot of the cabin's perch: the trolly downtown, the main grocery store, the 8 mile Craft loop drive, and some of the best ziplining, horseback riding, and golf, east on 321. Finally, I would highly recommend hiking the 5 mile round trip to Rainbow Falls (awesome full bloom rhododendrons all along the LeConte creek, and go sit on the dry ledge right behind the falls and watch the rainbows). The road into the park to this trailhead is near the cabin, and then loops back by a one-way Motor Nature Trail, that comes out right at the drive up to Bear's Path. So even if you dont hike you can get some very beautiful and convenient access to the National Park The road to the cabin is steep, but recently paved (make sure you have the right vehicle if renting in winter). Finally, if you happen to be vacationing during the 4th of July, make sure you see the wonderful piece of Americana that is the midnight parade which marshalls just east of the drive up to the cabin, and thus can be viewed curbside from your lawn chair without going into town, and also the excellent fireworks (good views just a short walk/drive west to Willow Lane area). We were very active on this trip (as most will be in this area where there is so much to see and do), so this cabin was perfect for us as a place for nice meals, morning and evening hot-tubbing, and media entertainment at end of day. If you're looking for an isolated get-away where you don't go out much, be aware that Bear's Path has no yard for outdoor activities, and is not especially private (other cabins can be seen from deck). On the other hand, there is nothing but woods behind it, going right into the national park, so you will see bears. Observing bear cubs playing close by, from the safety of the cabin decks, was among the highlights of our stay. So thank you Mayte - top notch cabin and destination!!!!!
