“Been staying here for forty years”

Posh, luxurious, and spacious are not terms that describe most of the rooms at Zoder's, and most, but by no means all, of the "Recent reviews of this property" are generally accurate, especially regarding the quirky breakfast. But Zoder's is the creek, the balconies, the location, and if you do your homework--use Google Maps to get an aerial view, plot your prospective room to see what view it has, call the Front Desk to make your reservation and ask a billion questions, etc.--you can cut down on many of the surprises that accompany a first-time stay at any hotel/motel/inn.

As for our most recent stay (July 29 - August 3, 2014; room 176), I noticed a few, guest-friendly changes, especially in the picnic area, since last year, but the WiFi is still spotty, and the computers for guest use are unreliable. For my family, a stay at Zoder's is a clean, friendly, yearly tradition.

The front desk staff was very pleasant. We were early and our room wasn't ready but they gave us a parking sticker so we could leave our car in the lot and walk around town. The room was a little small. Very comfortable beds. Balcony over the stream is really cool in the mornings. Breakfast is served kind of odd and not customer oriented staff. Kinda feels like you would get scolded if you came back for second helping of B&G. Housekeeping seems to smoke a lot around the grounds. The place is located away from the crowded part of town which is nice. Easy walk up to all the action. The crosswalks by this place is very dangerous. Be careful when you cross. The cars won't stop like they do up town. You have to cross the street to catch the trolley. All in all this place is not bad at all. For the price we were fine with it.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and were very happy during our stay. We had no problems with making reservations over the phone or checking in. The staff was very friendly throughout and the lobby was very nice. The continental breakfast had a nice variety, although it is odd how they won’t let the guests toast their own bread or bagels, everything is done by the staff. Milk and cookies were a nice touch in the evenings and the eating area had plenty of seats. We enjoyed the indoor pool, hot tub and the waterfall feature in the pool. The location of the hotel was very nice in terms of being close enough to walk to everything along the parkway, but far enough away from the crowds and noise. The balcony was nice in the mornings for eating breakfast and the view was great. How often do you stay at a place where there is a stream running through? The only real gripe we had was just the design of the room, which is outdated. They could definitely upgrade the furniture, but it didn’t hurt our experience. We made good use of the mini fridge and coffee maker during our stay. Little things like that are always nice although it would have been nice to have a microwave for making popcorn or heating up leftovers. Wi-Fi was spotty for us. We had to go outside to get a good signal. The price was definitely reasonable for all of the amenities the hotel offered. Our favorite thing about Zoder’s was listening to the stream at night. We slept so well all week and we just had to open up the little window above the balcony door to hear the stream. The king bed was also very comfortable. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay and would recommend to anyone looking to stay close to the parkway.

The brochure is deceiving. Asked for room with view of river and got to look for four days at a crossover bridge with wires hanging down I reserved it 6 months in advance and got that. Rooms outdated, musty just a huge disappointment. Took my handicap mom who is 77 yrs old and planned for 6 months to sit on the balcony looking at the river like the brochure shows and we got no view at all. Very upset.

We recently stayed in one of the two story rooms across from the office. The layout of the place was great but that was about it. The upstairs had two full size beds and bathroom while down stairs had full size murphy bed and bathroom . The lock on the door didnt work 95% of the time. The bathroom door knob was about to fall off. I had to use my tools-all to fix it. The exhaust fan in both bathrooms were filthy. The heat/ac in both were so clogged up i dont see how they worked at all. We hung the house keeping sign out the first morning when we left and when we got back the only thing done was beds made. Carpets were not vacuumed and tubs sinks snd toilets were not cleaned. Coffee, cups, and toilet paper were not replinished. My wife went to front office and told them of the situation. They sent the head house keeper over who took a spray bottle and rag and wipped tub sink and toilet down and then took same rag upstairs and cleaned sink tub and toilet with it. Then had to ask her to vacuum the carpets. She did this and started to leave and we had to ask for coffee, cups and more toilet papper. The simple things that should have been done were not done. Very dissspointed in the stay we had. I did not bring up heat/ac units nor exhaust vents to managment as it should not have been an issue to bring up if proper housekeeping and maintenace were being done. As parent of a one year old with astma its those types of things you pay attention to. So im sorry i would not recommend this olace to anyone else. Paul from indiana

Zoders was absolutely amazing. It is walking distance from the main strip and all the fun attractions. We slept with our windows open just so we could listen to the stream at night. The rooms were very clean and staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The milk and cookies were a nice touch too. My husband kids and I can't stop talking about how much fun we had!

I see from the reviews that they are mixed. I think one has to remember that this motel is not a top dollar hotel and we found it fabulous for the price. We had one of the cottages just by the brook. We found the room large ,well appointed, maybe a little dark, but we were surrounded by trees, the bedding was great, coffee maker, fridge and good little bathroom. The high spot was sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch either for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
I would have given it an 'excellent' but think they could do more for the breakfast room which I found cold and uninviting. rather like a utility room; to have to queue for.breakfast on a tray rather gruesome. What about some pictures guys??? If you could do something about that, it would be a perfect, although we went out for breakfast and found the rest great. Reception staff helpful and welcoming, and do not miss the Parrot who says hello to you when you walk in!
