“Great motel at a great price”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

After staying just 2 nights at Zoder's, I am sad to be leaving. We stayed in room 119. They have two uncluttered bedside tables with plugs, great for my CPAP. They have lights on the wall over the bed, great for reading. They have two comfortable chairs by a large picture window overlooking the creek. Snacks and wine from 4-6 p.m. and cookies and milk from 8-10 p.m. were nice. Across the creek from our room is an outdoor gas firepit that has a fire going when it is cold. The front desk is friendly and helpful. We have a little transom window over the door to our creekside patio that you can open and hear the creek. The bed is very comfortable. There is plenty of cabinet space under both sinks. There is a small refrig but no microwave. Our room is entirely quiet. All we can hear is the babbling stream. The indoor pool is a good walk outside, which is hard when it is cold. I just wish we could stay longer.

Room Tip: Room 119 is the furthest room from the street in the older part of the hotel. Lots of privacy. A fir...

We stayed at Zoders for three days in October. This was a wonderful place to stay. The customer service was great, very clean its an old place but is updated well. We will be back next year for a family reunion. If you stay here you will not be disappointed!

I liked that the hotel is at the quiet end of town, a few minutes walk away from the noise and bustle of the strip (most of which seemed fairly tacky to me anyway). We used it as a base to visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and it was excellent for that purpose. Our room was comfortable, and a reasonable size, with a small kitchenette (fridge, microwave, coffeemaker etc), but the best feature was the private balcony directly over the stream. The hotel offers complimentary wine and cheese every evening, with free milk and cookies later on. Parking is free, there are two pools (one indoor, one outdoor), and a laundry room for guest use. WiFi is free but we found we couldn't connect most of the time as the signal was so poor. The only other minus point was the breakfast: although it's free, it's not a buffet - you are given a list of items and you tick which ones you want, then hand the card to the server. The card implies that you can only have one item from each category - if you were allowed to have more, it wasn't made clear. All the food was cold except biscuits and gravy (which I didn't have, but I assume was hot). Having the food handed out by a single server means lines form if you get there at a busy time. The road outside the hotel is very busy most of the time, with a blind bend close by, so pulling out from the lot can be unnerving!

Room Tip: I liked having a room with a private balcony over the stream.

I really liked this place. The parking lot is a little hard to get in/out of but it is really worth it. The layout makes it feel snug and isolated, while it is really a 5 minute walk to everything in Gatlinburg. I stayed in a dream villa suite and it was perfect. Each room had a private entrance way, and balcony. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable (foam topper I think). They have complimentary snack available through out the day including breakfast, a wine and cheese sampler, and milk and cookies. To summarize, it was great. Stay here if you can afford to. P.S. The only complaint I had was the lack of blankets. There were two rather thin ones and I could have used about five of them to get proper blanket coverage.

We had a wonderful stay. Very friendly and welcoming staff. The king room we stayed in had a balcony overlooking a small stream. The hotel office is located next to the road but the rooms extend back away from the road and so no traffic noise at all. The room was clean and neat although a bit dated--but that just added to the charm and atmosphere of being in the Smokies. A small breakfast is served along with wine and snacks in the early evening and cookies and milk before bed. Zoders is located on the main street of Gatlinburg but the quiet part--there is a short walk to get to the busy tourist attractions--we were glad to be on the quiet side of town. A great stay!

This was our first stay and I used this website to review different motels and decided on this one due to the rating. We found the double bed room we had to be older and in need of some updating. Both of our beds were very creaky in the box spring. Everytime I turned I woke up from the noise. Upon arrival we found 2 bulbs out in the room which were replaced when asked. The balcony over the creek was nice but not private at all; if someone else is out then you can see & hear each other. Our light was out on our balcony and the tilt of the balcony & the support left some uncertainty to its safety. The room was quiet with just the sound of the creek. There was adequate parking. The continental breakfast was nice as was the cookies & cheese & crackers. The cleaning staff was nice but not all the personnel seemed friendly. There are different building also so maybe you can request a newer room. The entrance to the motel was very hard to turn into and hard to pull out of to go toward town. Also, the walk to town was very far for us. The trolley stops every 1/2 hour or so and only takes you to the Aquarium where you have to get other trolleys to go different places. That was not convenient. The pool & jacquzzi area were very nice and clean. The price was fair enough for the room. The room also had an old CRT TV and reception was not clear. All in all, I would not stay in this motel again; I will find one a bit closer to the strip next time as we like to walk instead of wait for trolleys.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a newer room if that is important to you.

Saw Zoder's on a previous trip to Gatlinburg and wished we had stayed there. On the next time down we stayed in one of the Villas Suites with in-room hot tub and were very impressed. Very clean, left new towels, etc... in sealed bag on door even with "Do Not Disturb" sign up. Lots of different types of rooms, free breakfast, indoor and outdoor pools. Far enough away from the busy part of the strip to avoid the noise yet no more than a 10 minute walk to the heart of G-burg. Will be staying here again next time in the area.

Room Tip: Hotel has many different room types. Recommend booking through their own website in order to know e...
