If your looking for a treat then go here! Located in The Village, tucked back from the main street it is a great treat. I had a coconut and hubby had the Bavarian cream, both were excellent. They were fresh and hit the spot. Our only regret was not getting a dozen to take with us on the road.

We went to the Donut Friar as a result of reading the good reviews on Trip Advisor. When we arrived around 10:00 AM there were only about 6 types of donuts to choose from and they were nothing special. They were very small and basic and looked and tasted like Dunkin Donuts except the prices were higher- $1.14 for a basic donut and $2.50 for a chocolate Long John. It was discouraging but we purchased a few donuts as we had made the trip specifically to try them. I would defintely NOT recommend them as I have had donuts that were much better at many different bakeries in the past. Very disappointing............

This shop is located in an area called The Village, which is an area of small shops clustered in a beautifully recreated Bavarian village setting. Most of the Donut Friar's seating is located outside the shop among the fountains, raised stone flowerbeds and large trees. We found the donuts fresh and tasty, the coffee good and hot, and the gentleman who served us was jovial and friendly. What more can you ask for? This will be a regular stop for us when visiting Gatlinburg.

I've been eating these donuts since I was a little girl. We were raised on their donuts and now my adult children go there also. I go everytime we go to Gatlinburg and leave with a dozen. They never last long !!!

Visited today, 9/8/12 got a couple of glazed doughnuts to try, they were average, .97 each. Probably much better fresh.
