“Average Hotel, Awesome Location, Great Price!”
Reviewed August 12, 2008

I chose this hotel because of the low price and the good reviews on this site and I was not disappointed. The hotel is pretty average overall, but it was clean, the beds were comfy, the shower was adequate and the service was friendly. The real reason to stay here is the LOCATION! I've been vacationing in G'burg for many years and this is the best location I've ever had. The price is hard to beat as well. I booked directly through the hotel's website and paid a total of $89 for a weekend night. Check around and you'll soon realize that the combination of price/location make this one a winner.

This place was an incredible deal!! We paid less than $70 for a large room with 2 comfortable queen beds, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Though the property is older (I think I stayed here as a child!), our room had new tile in the bathroom as well as a new tub and sink. There was a second sink outside the bathroom which was very nice. We requested a crib and lo and behold it was waiting in the room on arrival! The Krispy Kreme donuts were a good appetizer for our pancake house breakfast :) Though we didn't use the pool, it looked nice. The location is perfect, a short distance off the main parkway. Our room was very quiet. The only negative I can think of is that there was a weird smell in the hallway outside the room but not in the room itself. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We have just returned from Gatlinburg after staying 4 days at this hotel. This hotel had some minor problems but for the price it was a deal. The water pressure in the shower was very weak , the hallways were dirty and it was somewhat noisey. Now for the good parts. The room was very clean and large. We had a balcony and could see the mountains. The location was perfect. You could walk to everything. Would recommend the Logcabin Pancake house for breakfast (one street over). The breakfast at hotel no so great but fine it you just want doughnuts and coffee.
Would stay here again because price and location. Satisfied with stay.

The Econo Lodge Inn/Stes (not to be confused with plain Econo Lodge –which looked run down and is further from the main street) suited our plans to stay where we could walk everywhere and not have to pay for parking or depend on the town trolleys. Actually, it was a pretty nice place. The towels were thin and the beds were not pillow-tops and the bathroom was small, but it was a fine place to stay. It is located about one block up a street off the main street. To find it, turn left where the chairlift is in town. You will be turning just past a Ramada Inn sign and just before Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Look for the Space Needle. The hotel is about one block up on the left. The road walking up to the main street is not very steep. I am wimpy and I had no problems with it being too steep. There is plenty of parking as they have an original building and then past that there are two connected buildings with more parking. The main part of the hotel is the standard mom/pop square U shaped rooms around a pool. There are pretty rock arches around the room areas. This building has lower floor rooms and upstairs rooms (no elevator—stairs or a ramp). The other two buildings are separate from the main building. They are more modern looking with elevators and parking underneath---however the view from your balcony will be a parking lot and back of a restaurant so the main building is nicer. There are rocking chairs outside the main building and plastic pool-type tables & chairs around the pool. The pool was always clean and the grounds in general were maintained. Pool towels are not provided. The hotel room door had the mandated three locks and an electronic key---we talked to another couple staying at the Red Roof Inn which still used an actual key for the door and hadn’t updated their hotel or furnishings. Be sure to leave your parking pass visible wherever you park on this property.

We had booked the room thru Choice Hotels to use Points we had accumulated from using their Visa card. We were very surprised to find that this hotel allowed us to book a room with two kings and a sofa bed for free points night stays. We figured it would be two kings by each other with a sofa four feet away in the “living room” area. We were wrong! Our room, 104, was HUGE!!! The main room was about the size of two standard hotel rooms. It had: a king bed, table/2 chairs, coffee table, sofabed, tv/dresser, two nightstands, micro/frig. There was a real door with a real lock separating the other bedroom which had a long low dresser with tv, two nightstands, another king bed. The tv stations were a full range of cable including HBO and about 70 channels. The back bedroom only had one window, kind of high up, but I had a perfect view of the chairlift in town!

The rooms were very quiet as the walls were thick. Even though we were there in the busy summer, the pool area was not disruptive or loud (most of the time we had the pool either to ourselves or we shared with one other family) so staying in a poolside room would be fine. The bathroom was clean but very small (remember to watch your elbow when you use the toilet as you will easily bump the sink). We pulled the coffee table over next to the bathroom to put necessities on. The fixtures and furniture seemed to be recently new. The room was clean. Some of the iffy areas were around the bathroom baseboard and around air conditioners (one per each of our bedrooms).

They do give a free breakfast. The complete menu is: coffee/orange juice/apple juice, white/wheat toast, margarine/jelly, Krispy Crème basic donuts, Fruit Loops/CornFlakes. It’s not much. It’s not fancy. You have to eat at one of the pool-side tables or in your room. But it was free, quick, and easy. We preferred to eat there for breakfast and then eat a nice early lunch in town beating the crowds.

Of the four places we have stayed in Gatlinburg (Park Vista, BearSkin Lodge, Clarion) this was our favorite due to mainly location which was our #1 factor in hotel choice. We were not in the bathroom too long or even in the room that much to make issues over not having a posh room. This location does not have a washer/dryer for guests. The Ramada Inn next door did have a coin laundry for guests. We used their dryer once to dry swimsuits and beach towels. There is a coin laundry called The Wash Tub nearby. Go to the main street and turn right. At the fork, continue right---as if you are not going to Pigeon Forge but the other way up the street. The Wash Tub is about a mile on the right next to a self-carwash. They have a change machine, vending for soap, and areas to fold clothes. It’s a clean enough location.

Overall, we were happy with this location. If you have a large family or tote a lot of stuff with you, request room 104. You will have lots of room.

We were in room 204 the roon was huge! it had a queen bed, a king bed, pull out sofa bed ( no sheets) fire place( turned off in summer) and a very large jacuzzi tub. Toaster and mini fridge.

The free breakfast was juice coffee donughts toast and cereal.
The room was clean, the staff was very friendly.

Located in the center of town, about half a block from the parkway.

We will definately stay here again.

This hotel has a great location - youre only a block away from the main strip. Lots of shops, restaurants, etc within walking distance.

The room was clean, comfortable, and everything worked fine.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family. We were very pleased with our one nights stay there.
