“An amazing place to stay!”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

If you are looking for an amazing place to stay that will leave you speechless at the views with amazing hospitality...the Buckberry is the place to stay. My boyfriend and I recently took a long weekend trip to Gatlinburg and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Buckberry Lodge. There is nothing like waking up and drinking a cup of coffee on our private balcony overlooking the mountains. We stayed in the "Yes Dear" room and it was indeed very neat, clean, tidy and perfectly decorated according to the theme of the room. We loved that everyday we got fresh baked cookies by our pillows as well. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food is amazing along with the service and the staff is very nice and hospitable. We loved going down to the creek and spending some time relaxing and enjoying the wonderful peaceful sounds of nature. We truly had an amazing time and did not want to leave. We already decided that next year when we make our way to Gatlinburg again that we will be staying at the Buckberry again. Words cannot describe how amazing it is until you experience it for yourself.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at the Buckberry Lodge and loved everything about our stay! It was so peaceful, yet it was so close to the entrance of the Smokie Mountain National Park and touristy Gatlinburg. The room was clean and the decor had a rustic, mountain vibe but with all the modern amenities, which made it very comfortable and relaxing. The pavilion down at the creek was a great place to bring some wine and enjoy nature. You can either hike down to the creek or catch a ride on a "Pinzgauer" (a military transport vehicle) which was lots of fun. I recommend trying both! I can't say enough about the staff at the lodge.....Megan at the front desk was so sweet and helpful, Andrey made some fabulous cocktails, Nadia, one of our wonderful servers and Tom who drove us to and from the pavilion...Thank you!! If you are planning a stay in the Gatlinburg area you owe it to yourself to check out The Lodge at Buckberry Creek!

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor.....wonderful views

About a year and a half ago, our daughter celebrated her wedding at Buckberry Lodge. It was a wonderful event, really two events, as we held the informal rehearsal party on the great lawn and next night's reception in the lodge. We loved the experience and so did all our guests.

I wanted to surprise my wife with a romantic getaway to celebrate our anniversary, so I made arrangements to return to Buckberry. It's not inexpensive, but it's worth the price. We spent two nights, ate in the lodge both evenings, hiked down to the pavilion on Buckberry Creek, where we packed in some wine, cheese and saucisson. Once again, the location, the amenities and the friendly and helpful staff made our stay memorable.

Our evening meals were superb. On the first night, we enjoyed the mussels and my wife ordered the small plate crabcake as her entree. I ordered the pork chop. All the various plates were well-prepared and tasty. We brought our own wine, and the corkage fee was $20. On the second night, we each ordered the filet after splitting a salad. Superbly prepared and delicious. We had dessert each night, a selection of sorbet and ice cream, and I enjoyed the bread pudding.

We were so well-fed each evening that we stuck with the complementary breakfast each morning. Scones, bagels, cereal, juices, coffee or tean and fruit. Simple but good. And again, the staff is so friendly and accommodating.

The rooms are spacious, and the views of the Smokies beautiful. I recommend Buckberry Lodge for anyone who wants to stay near Gatlinburg and at the very entrance to the national park.

What an amazing property! If you're looking to maintain the serenity of being in the Smokies and avoid the touristy spectacle of downtown Gatlinburg, this is the BEST lodging around! Directly above the town and accessible via a winding road up the mountainside, the Lodge at Buckberry is a destination unto itself! The rooms are beautifully and tastefully appointed, each with its own theme. (We were the Wild Hare room, complete with a rabbit motif in the artwork.) Very clean, well stocked kitchen and dining area, beautiful modern bathroom with separate jacuzzi bathtub and double vanity, comfy sleep sofa, DVD player, working fireplace...and the best part -- a private balcony facing the mountains with a ceiling fan. We truly did not want to leave!!! The staff was also extremely helpful and attentive, and the property is tranquil and stunning. We can't wait to return!!

If you are going to the Smokies, but want to avoid Gatlinburg kitsch and Pigeon Forge outlets, this is the perfect place! Close enough to get to the park easily or to whatever convention hotel you have to go to for meetings, the lodge is secluded, quiet, beautifully appointed and a delightful place to stay. Our suite included a large, comfortable living room, a small but well-equipped kitchen and a wonderfully comfortable bedroom and master bath. The included continental breakfast is very nicely and generously done. Guests can also order from the hot menu -- my Eggs Benedict were perfect! Although our two dinners at the lodge were part of special events, they were certainly a cut above the usual pre-ordered meals.
I cannot say enough about Buddy, the genial owner who amazingly remembers guests' names and makes a point of asking if they have everything they need. We will be back!

Room Tip: There are rooms on three levels -- ask for the top level for a fabulous mountain view.

This was our second stay, and we loved it. The room was gorgeous and so was the view. My son loved the sleeper sofa.I love the whirlpool bathtub. It also had a wonderful shower. The property is gorgeous. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We plan to stay again next summer.

Room Tip: We had a gallery suite with to queen beds and a sleeper sofa. This was great to travel with kids.

My best friend and I stayed at the Buckberry Lodge in June 2014 for two nights. This wasn't enough and do plan on returning one day. We stayed here as part of a road trip and visited Dollywood and went horse riding/driving through the smokies. The room we had was so warm and cosy and had everything we needed. Huge sunken bath which my friend adored Wonderful view of the mountains. Breakfast was enough for our needs and the view while eating your breakfast is just breathtaking. We never ate here at night as we were not around so cannot comment on the restaurant food. All the staff we met were warm, friendly and paid genuine interest in us. We were advised that there was a trip on to see the annual mating fireflies in action. This was a wonderful and amazing thing to see, The woods were lit up with what looked like fairies flashing through the trees. Magical memory. This only happens for two weeks of the year so if you can time your trip right I would well advise you to book onto it. The co-owner of the Lodge Buddy was so kind and nothing was a problem. He made sure we got to see the Pavillion which was down a little trail and next to a beautiful creek. This is a perfect spot to take a bottle of wine and a book and just sit back and relax. I got to see a raccoon while sitting on my balcony early one morning but didn't get to see any bears. Apparantley, they have been known to wander around the lodge at certain times. I will return with my boyfriend hopefully as I feel this is a romantic location and he can also take the hotel up on there fly fishing guide and maybe catch himself a great smoky trout!!!. Would highly recommend anyone to pay this Lodge a visit Thankyou Buckberry Lodge it was wonderful.

Room Tip: Maybe try and get one of the rooms on the higher level to see more.
