Buckhorn Inn has a set menu every evening, and reservations are required. On our trip, the food was amazing. The meal started with fresh sundried tomato parmesan bread straight out of the oven, followed by a cup of roasted red pepper tomato soup. Next came a spinach salad with gorgonzola and a homemade vinaigrette. The main course was a crab cake and shrimp over a bed of wild rice and asparagus with a mango reduction sauce. And, the course that we took home because we were too full to do it justice, a slice of orange carrot cake.

The food was exceptional. The crab cake was obviously made of quality crab meat, and not fried until you can't taste the difference like you get at many places. The presentation of the dishes was excellent. And the best part, in my wife's opinion, was brought out first in the form of a fresh-baked loaf of bread. The wait staff was kind enough to pack a loaf to go for us after we told them how much we liked it.

Overall, fantastic food. The Inn is nice, but the atmosphere more fit my grandparents than myself (about 30). The furnishings were all new, but had an antique feel to them. There was a nice fire in the fireplace (real logs, not gas). And the staff was very pleasant. We will definitely come back here. Check out the menu on their website and figure out which evening's menu looks best, and book a reservation. You won't be disappointed

We had a special celebration (5 birthdays) while on a family trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg and wanted to find someplace special for the occasion. After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor we selected the Buckhorn Inn. Our only concern was that it was a four-course, fixed-price menu and we had 10 and 13-year olds in the group. Upon calling the Inn I explained the circumstances and they were quick to offer child-friendly fare (veal osso buco not qualifying) and we made our reservation.

The Buckhorn Inn is approximately 10 minutes off the main drag in Gatlinburg and enjoys one of the most serene mountain views you are likely to find. The property consists of a main lodge and a number of cottages scattered over the pristine 30-acre site. If you arrive early you can wander the grounds or relax on the back porch looking at the mountain vistas.

The restaurant is BYOB and we brought white and red wine for the occasion. Upon arrival, the friendly and efficient waitstaff opened the wine and returned with the white wine in a wine bucket to chill. Since there is a fixed menu, there is no ordering hassle and you are free to relax until the first course is served. We were asked if the kids wanted soup and salad (which they did), and we were off to the races.

Our first course was lemon vegetable chicken soup which was delightful. The salad was mixed greens and had what seemed to be a ranch/blue cheese dressing that everyone liked. The main course consisted of a grilled veal chop (we had been told in advance that the butcher shorted the order of osso buco) with green beans and baked potato. Simple, but well prepared and delicious. Finally, dessert came in the form of a chocolate pecan tart that was appreciated by all.

After dinner we met the chef and offered our appreciation. We also had a chance to look at one of the delightful premium rooms in the main lodge. If we find ourselves back in Gatlinburg we will most definitely stay (and dine) at the Buckhorn Inn.

In a market with no shortage of mainstream fare, the Buckhorn Inn is a fine dining oasis. Not for everyone, to be sure, but a find for those that want something better than steaks, barbeque and the like.

Reviews were spot on. Beautiful atmosphere and very kind professional service for 20, including 8 children. Food was excellent and prompt, you cannot beat the BYOW policy as well! The real treat however, was enjoying the grounds afterward. Imagine 20 adults and kids participating in the meditation labyrinth at sundown.

I was looking for a good dining experience for our last night in the Smokies. We were staying in a little cabin on the east side of the park, so quite a ways for the Buckhorn Inn, but after reading the Tripadvisor reviews for everything else Gatlinburg had to offer (and being totally turned off by the comments of "overrated", "not what it used to be", "terrible service", "pricey", etc., I went back to the number one choice, Buckhorn Inn, and re-read the reviews and looked at the website. Boy, am I glad I did. What a gem of a hideaway - well worth the 45 minute trip from our cabin. Exceptional value, wonderful ambience, fantastic view from the porch, excellent service - and we didn't even spend the night! We took our own bottle of wine which was prepared for us while we enjoyed the evening's view from the porch before dinner. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a quiet evening out. We will definitely make a reservation again next year.

We were served a delightful meal multi-course meal, accompanied by the great wine we brought for the meal. The service was gracious and prompt. The meal lasted almost two hours , letting us enjoy every bite. The food elegantly presented and was full of flavors. It was clearly a meal to remeber.
