“First Time Visitors - We'll Be Back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

This was our first experience with Park Grill Restaurant in Gatlinburg, TN and despite some of the previous reviews, were very pleased we dined there on May 13th.

First let's address the decor. We found nothing horrifying about it, even though we never saw how it used to be. It did appear a little odd to pair the black & white with a wood rustic theme, but we managed to eat and enjoy ourselves without worrying about it.

My husband and I both love rare prime rib, and that is our test of a good restaurant. We did not opt for the salad bar, but the rib was rare, very tender and delicious. Our side dishes were very good and plentiful. We shared a hot blackberry cobbler (enough for 2) for dessert and it was terrific.

Earl was our waiter and he was very friendly and efficient.

We had a very nice dining experience and would highly recommend Park Grill to anyone looking for a great meal in Gatlinburg.

“Excellent restaurant”

My wife and I enjoyed an excellent meal here; the chef does a great job. Because this was our first time we were not burdened by the past decor - we thought the place looked great! The salmon was wonderful.

“Not the Park Grill I remembered.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2013

We used to love the Park Grill with it' s rustic atmosphere and outstanding service. Even had my parents 50th wedding anniversary there but we went there tonight and things have changed but not for the better. Atmosphere was cold and stark and staff were not very welcoming. The server was polite but had no personality. Next came the food, 10oz ribeye had 2 oz of fat and grizzle and the salad bar that was an additional $5 was not worth $2. Our daughter ordered a combo of filet and chicken and neither were up to par. Chicken was overdone but had soggy skin and Filet had no flavor. Our third entree was okay but all were overpriced since you had to pay additional for your salad. Not a good dining experience.

“The best I have found ....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

I visit Gatlinburg on average a couple of times a year and always make it a point to visit the park grill. Pricing is right, the food is well above average, and the staff has always gone out of their way for us. In addition pricing for children's meals is the child's age...there is even steak on the kids menu. The waiter even cut up the children's steaks for them. Couldn't ask for a whole lot more in a tourist based town.

“What Happened To The Park Grill ?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2013

Oh, no .... our former favorite restaurant in Gatlinburg has gone "Chic". Since it opened, the Park Grill had captured the spirit and heritage of a classic Appalachian mountain lodge. We would always request a seat in the Bear Wallow, with it's intimate rustic decor, and be served by Don, who is a wonderful host. On a recent visit we were shocked to see the operation has been totally remodeled. The beautiful carved wooden exterior doors have been painted a cheap solid black. The natural wooden rocking chairs on the porch have been painted a screaming white. Stepping inside, the interior now resembles a P.F. Chang restaurant. The classic Old Hickory furniture is gone, replaced by glossy urban mahogany dining tables and chairs. The mural above the kitchen has been replaced by a glaring stark white wall with a modern wooden abstract art object attached. The green trim that once nicely complimented the massive log walls and ceiling trusses has been painted black and white. The rugged round pewter dinner plates are past history, replaced by rectangular white china. The wonderful salad bar has been compromised and the dinner menu has been changed. Our meals were very disappointing. My Pecan Chicken was diminished in size and presentation and was severely over-cooked. When we questioned our waiter about the changes, I could tell the waitstaff is sharing our shocked grief about the destruction of this once fine restaurant. Sadly, we have no reason to ever return to this misguided debacle. Thankfully we have some fond memories of the glory days of the original Park Grill.
