“Not the best, not the worst.”
Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

Stopped in for lunch. We were only patrons when we arrived. Place was cold, but they did seem to turn the heat up. Our server was wearing a jacket to keep warm! Food (fish and chips) weren't bad, just not great. Was supposed to be served with cole slaw. We each had about a tablespoon. More of a garnish than a side dish. Beer (black and tan) tasted a little flat.

We had ice/sleet in the area the previous day. The owners did not do a good job of clearing the brick steps leading from the street below. May not have been their direct responsibility, but their (drinking) customers would clearly be using the steps. They should have been cleared!

This is still a fairly new place, so we might be willing to give them another shot later...if they stay in business!

“Awful. Bad food, bad value. Skip it.”
Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

The owner is the cook, and he's a poor one. Our party of five got four entrees at once and the fifth one 20+ minutes later. Keep in mind that we waited 45 minutes for the first dishes anyway, even though no one else in the place was eating. The food was average at best: low quality, poorly seasoned, etc. There was only one other staff member, the server/bartender, who had no assistance from the owner whatsoever. Capacity there is about 40, so definitely understaffed. The best part about this place is the name and sign outside.

“Still working out the kinks”
Reviewed December 25, 2012

So many people want to get into the restaurant business and have no idea how to run a restaurant. The owner is a nice guy and has good intentions, but the execution is lacking.

Had to chase down people to get refills over five times. Took over an hour for food and the order was not even our tables.

Go when there is no one there. Our second visit went much better in regards to drinks because we sat at the bar. There seems to be no understanding of service overall, but the people were nice.

“A Little Disappointed”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

Having read mostly good reviews I visited on my first night in town. Monday night must be slow here, only a couple of other patrons I was greeted promptly, and sat at the beutiful full wood bar, had a salad, which was average, and the cottage pie which was mostly mashed potatoes with 3-4 bites of beef and very few vegetables and maybe 2 Tblsps of gravy in the bottom, with drink was over 20 dollars. atmosphere was okay but nothing different from other bar/restaurants. I probably will not go back as besides the cottage pie other menu items were baic burger, fish etc

“Discovered Good Food, Drink, and Service at Sherlock Holmes Pub”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

My wife and I enjoyed our lunch, beers, and talking with the owner. We had the fish and chips and the burger with chips, both of which were very good and reasonably priced. It's a really cool atmosphere and we would recommend it to travelers for food or just pulling a few pints.
