This was our third or fourth stay at the Riverhouse. The rooms are comfortable and large enough for us to spread out. The heated pool and hot tub are great - especially with the cool, crisp fall air all about and after we've been camping in the Smokies for a few days! This hotel is great for being close enough to the "strip" that you can walk and enjoy everything, but not too close.
We plan to be back again next fall, if not before... Remember to try the doughnuts!

Our family stayed at the River House the last weekend of July, and it was just as we expected from the reviews. A little dated, but the very clean rooms and great staff more than made up for any short commings you may find. We loved it.

My family stayed here for 4 nights. We arrived very late after the office was closed and they arranged to have someone meet me there late at night to check us in.

The room had two queen sized beds, a corner fireplace, table and chairs, two comfortable lounging type chairs, large bathroom with a whirlpool tub, ample storage for clothing, hair dryer, fridge, microwave and a pretty nice private balcony overlooking the river.

Yes, the rooms are not fancy and glitzy but ours was clean and very spacious. We had plenty of room to spread out. The fireplace does not work in the summer, only the winter months.

The hot tub is located within a small gazebo and the entire time we were there it was only us using it. The pool is not terribly large, but my kids enjoyed it and didn't seem to notice it wasn't an olympic sized pool.

In the morning you can call down to the front desk and order juice, hot cocoa, coffee or tea and they will also bring you home made donuts if you order them at no additional charge....thats one of the things my kids remember most is the yummy still warm donuts.

I would stay there again, it is in a convienient location close to everything in Gatlinburg as well as being right at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mtn. Park. It isn't a huge place with lots of frills, but it is clean, spacious, has friendly staff and is a great bargain in my opinion. It actually has more of a rustic feel to than many of the other hotesl we have stayed at when we go down there.

This was our first visit to this hotel, but not to Gatlinburg. We stayed for two nights the first weekend in June. We had a wonderful time. There were only two of us this time, but the rooms are very large, with comfy beds and chairs, small table and chairs in living area, with very nice fireplace, large windows, a wide balcony overlooking the river, with chairs and small table, that four or more could enjoy the balcony at the same time. One of the chairs inside the room was oversized, with a large foot stool, that two people can sit in at the same time. Plenty of extra built in spaces in dressing area for suitcases, and plenty of drawer space for clothing or essentials, lot of space for hanging clothes also. Dressing area and wide vanity were separate from actual bathroom, with the bathroom having a whirlpool tub, commode, and nice sink with mirrors on both walls. The bathroom fixtures looked new. Refridgerator and microwave are on opposite side of vanity. The living/sleeping area are totally separate from bathing, dressing areas. Someone complained on the reviews about the place being outdated, but it is so comfy and large, and so-o-o very clean, you hardly notice. As for the rooms being dark, there are so many different lights around the rooms, and it is all controlled from over your bed, at the push of a button. The TV is small, but placed above the fireplace, so it is not hard to watch from any angle. Complimentary coffee and doughnuts were good each morning. We went out for breakfast one morning and saved the doughnuts for dessert later, and they were good. The motel is right before you go into the national park, and away from the busy-ness of Gatlinburg, but yet you can walk to almost anything, lots of restaurants and entertainment, even the Aquarium is only a mile away, so if you are used to walking every day, that is not bad. Or, it is not bad if you stop at Gatlinburg shops along the way, and then continue on. It was beautiful weather so we walked to downtown, and then back along River Rd, where folks were fishing along the river, and there were some beautiful mallards and a nesting duck, close to the Aquarium. The pool and hottub area was nice and looked very clean and well maintained, as well as the courtyard area. Housekeeping and maintenance do an excellent job. Parking was easy and noise was minimal, only occasional disturbance from the street, nights were quiet for the most part. It was a great weekend and we appreciate the friendly front office staff at Riverhouse at the Park. They were very accomodating and helpful, and filled every request we had before and during our stay. We are planning a return trip in the fall, and will not hesitate to stay here again.

Every traveler has individual priorities. In order for me to get away for a short vacation, I may need to bring my laptop and keep up with my email and my customer’s needs so good Wi-Fi is a priority. While this hotel advertises wi-fi, it really is inoperable due to not having enough access points. From my room I had the best connection from the Bearskin Lodge across the street. I did provide some polite feedback to the staff in the office and found them to be far less than concerned about the situation.

If wi-fi is needed for your stay, I strongly urge you not to stay here. Same is true for the Riverhouse Moter Lodge down the street which is owned by the same people – they use the same wi-fi equipment there is it doesn’t work very well either. If you get a connection at all, it will be so slow as to be useless.

This was probably the largest hotel room I have ever stayed in. It was a king bed with a fireplace and a balcony overlooking the river. The only downside was we would have stayed at this hotel longer had we been able to get a room away from the street. They did not have many king rooms and the we were there off-season (almost) and were right on River Rd and Ski Mountain Rd. Could not believe the traffic noise coming into the room. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub but we prefer to use the hot-tub by the pool. The wood paneling in the room was very 70's, but it was clean and huge.
