“Great New Years Vacation”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We have been to Gatlinburg many times, but this was our first stay at Riverhouse. We stayed there four nights and I loved it so much we didn't want to leave. It is the perfect location, within walking distance to town. Our room was located over the river and had a nice, private balcony. The room was extra large with a fireplace, microwave and refrigerator. This is the largest room I have ever had in a hotel in that area. It was wonderful watching all the wild life in the river and was so peaceful and relaxing sitting out on the balcony. On New Year's Eve, we could see the ball drop at the Space Needle and had a great view of the fireworks. Gatlinburg has a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration each year with live music, a ball drop and fireworks. It is just a great place to celebrate the new year. There are many great restaurants located nearby with the Peddler and the Pancake Pantry being on the top of my list. Shopping can be found everywhere and if you take a short drive, you can get to the arts community, as well as Pigeon Forge where there are hundres of stores - including a great discount mall. This is my new favorite place to stay. The room was clean and private and the staff was nice. It is furnished like a lodge with paneling and a stone fireplace (nothing fancy). We had to ask the front desk to help us get closed caption on the television, and they assisted us immediately. This hotel does require a minimum stay of four nights during the holiday season and also a pre-payment of two nights (this is refundable if you cancel 7 days in advance). I certainly plan to stay there the next time I travel to Gatlinburg.

Room Tip: I prefer a room on first floor so that I can be closer to the stream. You can hear the water with t...

Very clean and cozy rooms. Nestled in the woods and yet walking distance to town. If you come to gatlinburg to enjoy a nice wood burning fireplace this is the place to stay. The wood is seasoned properly and delivered each day to your room. Have never had a problem getting a fire started. They bring your fresh orange juice, coffee or tea and homemade donuts each morning..yummy!! Family run and little changes though the years, this is the reason we come back year after year

Old but very cozy, balconies overlooking river. Fireplace in room, wood restocked everyday. Bath rooms updated a couple of year ago, clean large room. Homemade dounuts and juice/coffee served every morning to your room. Short walk to center of town, but very quite.

Very comfortable rooms with balconies overlooking river. Motor lodge situated under trees and river side. We had a large room with two arm chairs, two queen beds, table with two chairs and a wood burning fireplace. Wood for fireplace is furnished daily. Rooms come with refrigerator and microwave. Rooms very clean and nicely decorated. Exterior entrances. Rooms are quiet with no noise from other customers. WiFi available. Bathrooms very clean. Great water pressure. My only complaint is that in the winter (we were there during some very cold weather) the bathroom is very cold. There is an electric heater in the bathroom, but when turned on produced only luke warm air.
Breakfast consists of homemade doughnuts delivered warm to your room along with choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

Room Tip: Would recommend a room in the middle to maximize view of river

Large comfortable rooms with balconies over the trout stream. Our room had a large wood burning fireplace with ample wood and starters inside your room and replenished daily. Fresh coffee OJ doughnuts toast and Jelly delivered to your room promptly every morning. Two large easy chairs and a small breakfast table. The only negative is all reservations must have an upfront deposit of check or money order. Upon check in the remaining reservation must be paid on advance but they will take credit cards. They are very accommodating and helpful

An older motel, but very very clean. Updated bathroom sparkled. We had lots of room and we loved having morning coffee on the balcony overlooking a stream. I saw some reviews that didn't like the hotel across the street, but from our room the trees hid it. I would have liked a coffee maker in the room, but it was nice having it delivered to the room along with donuts in the morning. I wish I realized we could order a pot of coffee instead of just a cup earlier in our stay.
It is close to the downtown area, yet away from the crowds. I'd definitely stay there again.

LOVED the location of this hotel. It is one street back from the main strip in Gatlinburg, but it feels like you are miles away from everything! Shops & Attractions are a short 5 minute walk away. Aquarium is right down the street to your left, & Uber Gatlinburg is a short walk down the street to your right.

Room was nice. Older hotel, but clean & comfy. Rooms are nice & large...plenty of room for the kids to play. All rooms have a balcony overlooking the river...beautiful view. Pool area was clean. Be sure to take the ramp to the river & take a few pictures there! :)

We had a great stay & will stay here again when we return!
