My husband and I took a five hour Walk in the Woods with Samantha to learn about the plants, animals, history, and beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. Although we walked only five and a half miles, we learned so much!! Her knowledge of the plant life, trees, and history was exceptional. She loved to answer any and all questions that we asked. (My husband has been hiking the Appalachian Trail for over 20 years, and was so impressed with the knowledge Sam shared with us!) I am over sixty and was able to do this walk with no problem at all! Samantha was well prepared, and even provided some special treats, such as sassafras and hemlock teas! We will definitely do another trip with this company when we return to Gatlinburg!

Our two hikes with Sam to Ramsey Cascade and the top of Mt. LeConte were terrific (even if it was 37 degrees at the lodge!)! We learned a lot and had a wonderful experience. Sam was prepared with everything we needed, including extra surprises like hemlock tea. Her love for the mountains, the wildlife, and the history of the area made for great storytelling along the trails. We were in the mountains to celebrate a 50th birthday and ended up falling in love with hiking thanks to Sam and A Walk in the Woods.

Me and My Husband Brian did this walk on Tuesday (Oct. 9 2012) and we had the greatest time. Everything was so beautiful. Our Guide Cindy was the greatest and took her time to talk and show us so many things. I would recommend Cindy anytime.

We were hiking up to Mt Leconte and spending the night @ Leconte Lodge. Hiking up Trillium Gap and down Bullhead, use two different trailheads so we needed transportation.
In my phone call to the service, the person I spoke to was exceptionally kind and helpful re: tips on trails, etc.
When we reached out meeting point for pick up, Cindy was waiting for us. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable regarding the area, the trails and shared lots of interesting information on our short drive from one trailhead to the other. She was also very helpful and patient while we double checked our packs and gear, and took our picture as we started on our trek. $35 to transport all 3 of us and well worth it! Will absolutely use them in the future.

We are completely satisfied customers, having used this company's services for 2 walks during our vacation in the Smokies. Mike led both of our hikes and his knowledge of & love for all things outdoors couldn't have been more evident. He was a great guide! And the small waterfalls and pools hike in particular was something we couldn't have put together ourselves with weeks of research. Fabulous!
