As mentioned in many other reviews, visiting Ober Gatlinburg is like walking back into time. It is run down and out of date. The deco, colors, indoor smoking, and run down facilities and attractions sent me straight back to my childhood in the early 80's. I rather enjoyed the pleasant nostaligic feeling of the experience, but you will be disappointed if you are looking for a modern and well maintained facility. We drove up the mountain to avoid the expensive tram ride to the top of the mountain, but found that there was a $3 parking fee once we arrived. The ice skating rink was probably the most impressive part of the attraction. Many of the arcade games were not working. We arrived in the early evening, but the alpine slide and other outdoor activities were shut down. We did not go skiing, because the ski slopes had very little snow on them. However, our visit was last winter, which was an exceptionally warm winter. The ski slopes may be in better condition during more typical weather conditions. I personally enjoyed out trip to Ober Gatlinburg, but please be aware of what you are getting before you go.

The view to the top was beautiful. The attractions and shops at the top were not very good. We spent an hour here (a ride to the top, looked around, and caught the next ride back down). The place is rather run down. They need to invest some money into this place and fix it up. The kids that were ice skating seemed to be having fun. The rest rooms were really bad.

During my stay in Gatlinburg, this place was the most disappointing. With all the money Gatlinburg brings in with tourism, I can't believe they don't renovate or update this place. First of all, keep in mind that you have to go up the mountain in the gondola ($9 per person) for any attractions. When we discovered this, we decided to drive up the mountain ourselves, but also know that you have to pay $3 to park once you get up there. The only thing in the Ober Gatlinburg building on the main "drag" in Gatlinburg is the ticket booth and some run down gift shops. At the top of the mountain are more run down gift shops and the attractions. The only thing we spent money on was the ice skating rink which was OK but nothing fancy. When we go back to Gatlinburg, this place will definitely NOT be on our list of things to do.

We are sorry that you felt over charged for our tickets, we do update our prices every few years and work to keep them competitive to other attractions in Gatlinburg.
The Alpine Slide has always been a big draw for people coming to visit Ober, we have also added our own Ski Mountain Coaster last year as well. We do thank you for information, customer service is always a top priority for Ober Gatlinburg, and this will be passed along to the proper people.

We rode the Tramway up to Ober and it was OK, however when you have done it once, that is all you need to ride it. Also, the site is nice, but when you get to the top at OBER, there is nothing. The amusement park is not work the money, and the bears, if you have seen one , you have seen them all..

If you have never been, you are not missing anything. And if you do go, you will see why you wouldn't want to go again.

Didn't really like the tram ride up the mountain, crowded, no place to sit down. But we paid an additional six dollars to ride the chair lift on up the mountain. It was so peaceful and relaxing. It was beautiful up there and the band that played was great. We enjoyed the treat.
