As mentioned in many other reviews, visiting Ober Gatlinburg is like walking back into time. It is run down and out of date. The deco, colors, indoor smoking, and run down facilities and attractions sent me straight back to my childhood in the early 80's. I rather enjoyed the pleasant nostaligic feeling of the experience, but you will be disappointed if you are looking for a modern and well maintained facility. We drove up the mountain to avoid the expensive tram ride to the top of the mountain, but found that there was a $3 parking fee once we arrived. The ice skating rink was probably the most impressive part of the attraction. Many of the arcade games were not working. We arrived in the early evening, but the alpine slide and other outdoor activities were shut down. We did not go skiing, because the ski slopes had very little snow on them. However, our visit was last winter, which was an exceptionally warm winter. The ski slopes may be in better condition during more typical weather conditions. I personally enjoyed out trip to Ober Gatlinburg, but please be aware of what you are getting before you go.
