We stayed at River Terrace for almost a week. For Gatlinburg it was fine for us. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly. The location was good. The pool was small, and turned green on the last couple days of our stay. But for the price it was good enough. Almost all the hotels in Gatlinburg are older, and dated. And a lot of other places have roaches, so you have to be careful when booking a room in Gatlinburg. We go to The Smokies at least 3 or 4 times a year, sometimes more. No roaches was a plus for us!

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback on River Terrace Resort. It’s lovely that you were able to spend your vacation time with us in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We certainly hope you had a great time. There are plenty of local attractions to explore such as Downtown Gatlinburg, Dollywood and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We would love to have another opportunity to provide you with a cozy and comfortable stay.

This "resort" and I use the word loosely is owned by Westgate Resorts, so I expected some form of standard. This is a 1970s hotel with a coat of paint. And not even a high quality one at that. First off, we made resevations the day of arrival online but before arriving, I feel and broke my arm, so we decided we should just stay home. We called and explained this to the hotel to see if they would cancel the reservation considering the circumstances. They would not. They said if I could fax in my records from the hospital the could issue a refund in 30-45 days. So despite my injury we decided we would just go ahead and go. At least it would be some R&R. Boy was I wrong. Upon checking in, we were tired and hungry so we decided to go eat supper before gioing to our room. When we arrived back at our room around 10pm, It was rather cold inside, so my husband started the fireplace and turned the heat on, or attempted to. The heat did not work, so we called the desk and maintenance came but could not fix it. They said we could move to the room next door but when we arrived it was double beds and we paid for a king. So lets try another room. There were people sleeping in it! Finally on the 3rd room we found one with heat and no guests. Bedtime came and so did the music. Apparently the bottom floor of the building we were in has a conference room and there was an event going on with a band playing. We were on the 5th floor and the walls shook. After 4 calls to the front desk and a visit from security they finally admit they know where tht mysterious music is coming from. They did give us a $20 credit but we will never ever go back again!

We have stayed here twice a year for several years, we take a family trip once a year and we take am anniversary trip once a year, we never complained about the rooms before. We loved the location, the bottom line is you get lied to, you are promised a room and when you check in they stick you somewhere else, we only like the duck watch area, made reservation, then check in and then it's, oops sorry room isn't available, never had a problem until they switched over to westgate reservation, you can't make reservation at the hotel or by calling the hotel, have to go through westgate ONLY, I liked it better when we could call hotel reserve the room we want and it be available when we check in, I wouldn't stay in the mt view for nothing and I'm not willing to take the chance of Being put there or put in a room that your view is another building, river terrace needs to go back to the way reservations use to be, we WON'T stay again unless we can pick the room we want or the building we want

When we arrived 1-18-13, the parking lot we had to use was icy ( all of the other parking lots had been cleared), we called the desk immediately to have them put sand down.... we went to dinner and nothing had been done, we called again, nothing was done, the next morning it was even worse, we called again, nothing was done, a trip to the front desk did finally get some sand put down. We were almost like prisoners in our room for fear of falling on the ice if we went out. We had friends there but they were afriad to come to our room because of the ice. This, needless to say ruined our vacation. I would not stay there again. This was a dangerous situation that should have been addressed immediately.
