“Loved it!!!”

It was a very nice and clean hotel. Service was friendly and helpful. Pool area was nice for adults and children. There is resturants to choose from. You have a trolley come right to the hotel and take you around. The only down fall I think it is a little pricey for just a room.

Very secluded and beautiful hotel. Rooms are awesome. The front desk staff was absolutely wonderful. The food is great in the lounge and restaurant. Great location. I attended a conference here and it was an excellent experience

I'll start off by saying that I'm a Diamond HHonors Member that stays in a lot of hotels each year. With that said, I'm giving a totally objective review.
I was staying there two days for a meeting. When I arrived in my room there was no remote for the TV. I had to have maintenance come up and bring one. The same night, they had accidentally put a co-worker in my same room for some reason. He got in late and realized that someone was in the room that he tried to enter. We figured out that it was mine, luckily I had the slide lock on as it was midnight.

Typical of all Doubletree Hotels the hotel appeared to be refurbished from some other old hotel that was there previously. You've got a lot of 'new stuff' on an old frame basically. The floors of the room were dirty. The bathroom shower was not clean and the wall paper was poorly hung. You could see huge gaps between each strip. I made out a little better, as my co-workers had black mold on the ceiling in there bathroom. Sadly, it was not the best, but definitely not the worst experience. However, I would not choose this hotel if I had a choice.

The positives were that the view was great from the room and it was far enough away from the wackiness of Gatlinburg (which was like someone spit up a mix of a beach boardwalk and International Drive in Orlando in the mountains). If you want a pretty good deal this is not too bad for what it is. It's definitely not Hilton quality.

We were very happy with the upscale quality of this hotel. It seemed away from the activities of Gatlingburg. We enjoyed sitting out at night by the outdoor fireplace. The kids enjoyed the pools and the view was very nice. We will definitely stay here again.

George the Lobby attendant sets the best welcoming example any Hotel could ever have. He's courteous, helpful and takes an interest in everyone that enters or leaves the Hotel. In addition to this, everyone was also very welcoming and helpful as well. The garden area is an amazing site to see.

I stayed at Park Vista for a business trip for two weekdays. I was extremely unimpressed for several reasons:

1. The driveway leading up to the hotel is extremely steep (no, really.... STEEP), winding and impossible to traverse by foot due to the lack of walking pathways.

2. There is extremely limited parking and handicap parking anywhere near the doorways to the building. I had to park at the very back of the lot which was nearly a quarter mile away from the doors.

3. The elevators are loud and extremely slow. Theres a second set of elevators without the "pretty view" but the employees seem to have claimed ownership over these and literally every time I entered or exited them a startled employee would nearly run headlong into me.

4. My room was gross. Truly gross. One of the two beds in my room was covered with long curly dark hairs all over the outer duvet comforter. The TV remote also had these hairs clinging to it. The second bed didn't have long curly hairs, but the pillowcases were covered in eyelashes and eyebrow hairs. And, the sheets had big dark stains on them.

5. The shower was covered in mold. My co-worker's shower had black mold growing across the ceiling.

6. The aforementioned elevator shaft shared one of its four walls with my room. As a result, I had to listen to the grinding and endless "whoooooom" of the elevator going up and down all day and night.

7. The breakfast is cheap, college-dining hall level frozen and re-heated funk. You have to wait for a seat in the breakfast area (like its a "real" restaurant) and the prices ($13.00 a head) are out of control.

8. There was no WiFi signal whatsoever in my room and due to the adjacent elevator shaft, I couldn't get any cell signal in my room either. If I relocated to the front lobby, I could pick up a meager WiFi signal, but its NOT free. You have to pay for it, and even then its abysmally slow.

9. The gym is inside the pool area, so you must walk into the pool deck to access the gym (and subject yourself to all the wild child antics that come along with being around an indoor hotel pool.) The gym itself was ample but the equipment was covered in dried sweat drippings and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks.

10. The trolley is the only way to get out into Gatlinburg without driving the half mile into town and paying by the hour for parking. This wouldn't be such a big deal, but the trolley costs $10 per person, per day. I could see that racking up a huge bill for a family REAL quick. The sad thing is, if this hotel was more accessible (with paved walkways) it wouldn't be a bad walk into the main street! Instead, its another thing you have to pay for.

Overall: I found this hotel to be filthy, overpriced and overblown. I couldn't wait to leave.

We visited the Smoky Mountains during August. Gatlinburg is one of the 'gates' the this wonderful National park, so that's why we went there.
Gatlinburg itself turned out to be a bit of a strange mix of Vegas, Disney World and Six Flaggs, all transplanted into the mountains.

Fortunately, the Park Vista hotel is located a bit away from city centre, so one can easily escape the circus downtown.

The hotel itself offers great views of the Smokies, so the name isn't misleading at all. The rooms were big, clean, nicely AC'd, breakfast was good and staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The place also had an indoor pool with water slide for the kids. We enjoyed our stay there and would happily recommend it to other families and park explorers.
