“Fantastic stay”
Reviewed August 28, 2011

My husband and I stayed overnight as a little getaway. We live about 3 hours away and visit the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area several times a year. This hotel is the nicest in the area by far. For those who have never been to the area, the majority of the hotels are old and run down in my opinion. This was our first stay at the Park Vista and we were pleasantly surprised with how nice it is. The rooms were nicely appointed and clean, beds slept wonderful, beautiful views, and I loved the Crabtree and Evelyn soaps and shampoo! From check in to check out, we had no major issues. The only somewhat negative things about the rooms are no free wifi in rooms and the toilets could use a little more force. There is free wifi on the bottom floor so I was ok with that. I did not eat at the hotel so I cannot comment on that. The pool area was very nice. I do want to make mention that it is not walking accessible to the main strip in Gatlinburg. We are pretty active people and were prepared to walk the distance to the strip. However, the driveway to the hotel is very, very steep and curvy so we did not even attempt to try the walk. The trolley comes right to the front door though so it was well worth the $.50 per person and was pretty convenient too. Overall, we loved the hotel and will be returning soon!

We stayed here years ago but it has had a wonderful redo since being taken over by Doubletree. Pool area is fabulous along with the gas campfire on the patio adjacent to the bar area. Check in was very easy but front desk employees not very helpful or friendly, another guest at the pool was commenting on that also. View was wonderful, rooms very nice but bed a little to hard for me. Shuttle comes up to the hotel buy the $2 per day pass well worth it. Overall the best hotel we have stayed at in Gatlingburg, very quiet and peaceful away from the hustle.

Very nice hotel recently renovated. Indoor pool is great for kids, two slides, (we forgot our swim suits =/ ). Very clean, very nice staff. PJ the bellman was very gracious and friendly. The room was kinda warm when we walked in and he immediatly asked if the temp was okay, and once I said it was quite warm he adjusted the thermostat to our preference. He then opened the blinds to our balcony for us. Don't want to make the entire review about one person, but just wanted to give accolades for a job well done. All the staff were friendly that we encountered. The only downside to this review is the price for breakfast. EXORBITANT only begins to describe how overpriced things were. Ten dollars for a specialty omelet or $2.75 for a small yogurt is pushing the limits, especially u can go down the street and get FULL breakfast for two for $12.00. Breakfast prices aside, its really a great place.

Dear dooley1024;
Thank you for staying with us and glad you enjoyed the pool area. We do have a full breakfast buffet with one of our chef's there behind the lines to make you waffles, omelets or eggs and pancakes to your liking. Along with hot and cold, cereals juices, fruit and a variety of breakfast breads. Our selection of breakfast foods and having our chef on the grill to prepare your individual selection hot off the griddle is a step above some of the other offerings. We may charge a little more but also try hard to make it well worth the extra. We do offer bed and breakfast packages during the year, giving you more value.
Hope to see you again soon maybe on one of our packages found on our website.
Thank you

This hotel was awesome! Very beautiful location, away from the main street, up in the mountains a little ways. From the time we pulled in to check in we were treated very well by very friendly staff. A porter was waiting to take our bags to the room. As he was taking our bags up, he gave us an overview of hotel, ie; where everything is located, which elevators to use. We ate at the restruant at the hotel and the service and food there was excellent as well, with once again very friendly staff who made you feel welcome. Rooms were very clean, beds comfortable. Best hotel we've stayed at in a long time, We are planning on going back sometime in the fall!!!

We stayed here for our 22nd wedding anniversary. It was a lovely property, the food was delicious, the staff courteous, and the place was clean. We had a wonderful room on the top floor facing downtown Gatlinberg. The New Year's Package was for three nights. We toured downtown Gatlinburg thanks to the trolley which picks up guests in front of the hotel. Visiting the ski resort in Ober was especially nice. Overall it was a great get away. Our letdown was the so-called New Year's Eve Gala. The food was OK, but due to cost or not getting the word out, it was very poorly attended. That's part of the fun of a new year party, being in crowds and around strangers! We suffered through the band, it was not at all that great, they were very loud and did not seem to know when to end a song. At 12:45 PM, we left the "gala" and went back to our room to watch the fireworks display put on by Gatlinburg, it was outstanding. So in a nutshell, Park Vista is a well-kept property, food is good,we had fun in town, but the party was a bust. I hope they do a better job of preparation if they plan on having another New Year's Eve Gala.

Room Tip: Try to get near the top floor

Dear Gillsville;

Thank you for staying with us over the New Year's Holiday. Glad that you enjoyed the hotel however I apologize that you did not enjoy the NYE show. We did receive mixed reviews as some were hoping for larger crowds while some were very happy with smaller more intimate gathering. Not sure if we will be having the same type of show this year, maybe we will try a slightly different type of entertainment for the holiday. Hope that you will join us again this year.

Nearly everything was great - the room, the service, the cookies ;). The pool area was wonderful. The big water slide was really enjoyable. The pool area air was warm and the pool water was warm also - so the kids could swim for an hour or so without shivering. However, the pool area was in great need of a deep cleaning. In the pool, I scooped up clumps of hair and removed them. As much as I disliked touching the hair to remove the clumps (5+), it was even more disgusting to touch them accidentally. Also, the floor surrounding the pool was very soiled as a towel that fell on the floor clearly indicated. The top stair of the hot tub and the zero entry pool had dark green/black coloring/stains on an otherwise white/light blue surface that was hard to ignore. Also, the hot tub seamed over clorinated compared to the others we have used.

Dear Laura G;

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. We did just repair our pool filters and stripped down the entire pool area to deep clean and reseal the deck surface. We had found the top coat was not holding up as well as we thought it should. Hopefully you will return soon to see the improvements made in this very popular area of our hotel.
Thank you again and travel safely.

My other half and I needed to Getaway....life has been crazy recently and we just needed to relax and forget our troubles for a few days. We checked into Park Vista early around 2pm on Friday and stayed until Sunday evening around 6pm. Park Vista is located in Gatlinburg but it's just far enough away from all the tourist attractions that you are able to enjoy the peace and serenity of The Smokey Mountains. ( Dont worry though you are just a hop away from all the things to do. You can take a Trolley that picks you up from the Park Vista front door to anywhere you would like to go for only 50 cents a person. ) Upon entering the hotel we were immediately greeted by a friendly staff and warm chocolate chip cookies! We rode up to our room in a glass elevator allowing us to see the beautiful hotel from all angles. Our room was nicely decorated with new modern furniture, but the best part was the balcony overlooking the majestic mountains. We put on our Swimsuits and enjoyed the newly renovated indoor swimming pool. It is very neat with little waterfalls and a fun waterslide. The slide is not just for the kids we are in our 20's and had a blast on the slide all day. The pool is enclosed with glass which allowed us to see a roaming black beer cub on Saturday afternoon! We had the hotels breakfast buffet each day and it was quite good at a reasonable price. We did not however dine at the hotel for dinner because we wanted to go somewhere in Gatlinburg. In the evenings we came back and sat in the lounge to talk with other guests or played a game a checkers on the large checkers tables in the lobby. The lobby also has "FREE" computers that you can use to check your emails or just to surf the web. Parking at Park Vista was also "FREE" and there were plenty of open spots unlike many of the hotels on the Gatlinburg strip. All in all we had a wonderful weekend and we were sad to leave! This hotel is a great spot for just a mini vacay as we did or a full week stay. I have lived in Tennessee my whole life and I have spent many, many weekends in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge growing up. Park Vista is by far my favorite place to stay !

Room Tip: We used our Hilton Honors credit card and got a nice, low rate.
