My husband and I spent a long weekend here and would recommend it to everyone. the property is a round building and sits up on a hill overlooking town. This gives the rooms' views varying degrees of the mountains and of town. The grounds are beautiful. The hotel is slightly removed from the action, but a shuttle, available for $2 per adult per day, will take you down into town and to any one of a dozen stops. We bought a multi-day pass to avoid standing in line at the front desk. There is a concierge desk, but we never saw anyone manning the desk during our stay.
As HH Diamond Members we were disappointed that they didn't have a separate line for check-in, due to the extraordinarily long line with only one desk clerk working(on a Friday evening of a holiday weekend), but we were upgraded to a beautiful two room suite. The room furnishings were comfortable and seemed fairly new. The bathrooms are split with an outer area with sinks and a claustrophobic little room with toilet and shower.
There is an indoor pool with a slide that had lots of children lined up to use, but no outdoor facilities to enjoy a sunny summer day. Breakfast was buffet or order off the menu. The buffet was not fancy, but had many choices. The food was fresh and tasty. The hotel was full, so we were glad we were in line for breakfast by 9, because by the time we were finished , there must have been 20-25 people in line waiting to be seated. Hotel staff were so-so. We had one very friendly, pleasant, polite desk clerk that helped us several times and several others that did not seem to care if we were there or not. The hotel seems to be very family friendly. We would go again, but avoid summer holiday weekends as it seemed to overwhelm the staff. I imagine the views from the hotel would be breathtaking in the fall with the leaves changing.
