My sister lives in Tennessee, I'm in the Chicago area, and she listed the gallery on her Facebook page as a 'like'. The moment I saw Paul's work and the wonderful setting I needed to come down and see it for myself. We came to Gatlinburg with two must sees on my list; the national park and the Paul Murray Gallery. Neither disappointed! The characters that are housed there all have stories to tell and the gallery feels like a sacred place. What a gift! We spent close to an hour there and learned so much from Katie. It was like visiting with old friends and we walked away with our own treasures knowing that we will be back again and again.

A picutre in a brochure captured our attention so we visited the gallery to see more. Paul Murray's art is so beautiful and moving. He captures the very heart and soul of his subjects. We purchased two prints on our first visit and hope to add more soon!

My family and I spent this past week in Gatlinburg. We hiked in the mountains, went white water rafting and just enjoyed being together as a family. It was Friday and we realized we had not yet been to the Arts and Crafts Community out on Glades Road. Stopping at the Paul Murray Gallery for an hour or so was one of the highlights of our week! I am so glad we did not miss seeing his works of bringing the early mountaineers to life. Even the house/gallery in which he houses his work lends to the enjoyment of his art. My daughter and I particularly enjoyed "Kentucky Stitch" which portrayed a close up of an older lady's hands doing needlework.
All Mr. Murray's work showed the tremendous character and tenacity of these moutain people. Give yourself a real treat; go see the Paul Murray Gallery in the Arts and Crafts Community out on craft row in Gatlinburg, TN. You will be glad you did.
