“Nice vacation stop”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

We enjoyed our delicious pizza at Mellow Mushroom in Gatlinburg. The spacious interior and large booths are to be appreciated by a large family. We chose the outdoor seating overlooking the tourist town, and that was fun. I don't know if that seating might be hot on a really hot day, but it was pleasant the day we were there. The restaurant appeared to be clean, and the bathrooms were very nice.
Although our own waiter Bob was completely friendly and patient and helpful to us, service in general was nothing exceptional. Average or maybe even below average a bit would be a good mark. Personal hygiene and appearance seemed to be lacking, and there was no evidence of extreme southern hospitality that you might find in other restaurants. The service was not fast, but being on vacation, we were not looking for fast.
The pizza, on the other hand, was very tasty. We enjoyed pepperoni, Thai Dye, and the House Special. The crust has kind of a soft pretzel flavor, and the topping combinations were on the sweet side. We really appreciated the ability to split the selections among the pizzas in order to experience more specialties at one time.
Mellow Mushroom was fun and worth the stop, but it wasn't anything above average, and the hospitality was not overflowing even though the service was perfectly acceptable.

“Good pizza”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

Pizza was good, with good ingredients and was baked perfectly. Price was about as expected in a tourist area. Service was good. Outdoor seating was pretty hot -- could have used some more air circulation.

“Conflicting Reviews Here”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Two of us went in for a small pizza and a couple of cokes at 10:30 PM after a show. Uninterested girl playing hostess downstairs looked at us and said, "Two? Yeah, go ahead up.", and her job was done, so she went back to chatting with her companion. Once seated a very energetic young man gave us menus and returned with the drinks. With the place almost empty, he returned 15 minutes later to take our order. We then watched the staff get ready to close with the sweeping and refilling of the cheese and hot pepper shakers on the tables (including ours). In about 30-40 minutes our small pizza arrived. My wife thought the pizza was tasty, while I found it rather blah. The two toppings (onion and green pepper) a buck apiece extra were barely there, which might explain why I couldn't even taste them. We did both agree that the upstairs open air dining area did have a nice atmosphere and was very comfortable.

Good staff, atmosphere was nice. 'open' area available for seating was nice and overlooks the main strip in Gatlinburg. Price was reasonable. Pizza was great -

“A good lunch place”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

This was our second of two visits to the area's Mellow Mushrooms and it was enjoyed by our family of four. It's certainly not the best pizza I've had (that would be any variety of Chicago or New York pizza), but it was palatable. I love the crust. It could be less greasy though. Our server at this location seemed a little confused initially, but she was attentive. Our 17 and 21 year old daughters really enjoyed the Mellow Mushroom, even so much that one of them bought shirts for her and her boyfriend in the restaurant store.
