Great deal, especially on Fri/Sat when traffic is especially bad. It would be nice if the yellow trolley ran twice per hour to the Arts & Crafts Community, but otherwise the routes run frequently and on schedule.

I'd rather drive my car and pay for parking. Was picked up at Park Vista after waiting for the green bus for 38 minutes. When it finally shows up we have to wait another 5 minutes for the driver who got out to go buy some cookies inside, you know, since we didn't wait long enough already. Then after all that waiting it took us another 10 minutes to get down to the main drag. Less than a mile!!!! All this while he ate his cookies (the ones he made us wait on him to buy) and sucked down his pop. Screw this were driving from now on.

We rode the trolley a few times, mostly to Dollywood and back. For 50 cents a person or $2.50 for a day pass, this is the only way to travel around town. They have stops all over town and it is very easy to navigate.

The trolley was good and bad.
First the good.
At our hotel you could purchase an all day trolley pass for only $2 This sure beat the .50 cents each time you got on that was normally charged. We rode the trolley all over the red and green routes! It was awesome! Towards the end of the night the trolleys could get crowded because everyone was trying to get home but other than that it wasn't bad.
Most every driver I encountered was very friendly and helpful.
I would definitely ride the trolley around the town again!
Also if you have a smart phone and want to know where certain trolley's are you can go to http://gatlinburg.otvia.com/ It will show the routes and the trolleys moving around them. I found this very helpful.
But now the bad. We took the yellow route out to the Arts and Crafts Area. When the lady dropped us off she let us know she would be back in 1 hour and to be waiting there or it would be another hour for the next trolley. I loved that she was SO nice to explain everything. 45 minutes later we were waiting. 10 minutes later we seen the trolley coming.... it flew right past us!?!?! We were in shock! That meant we would be stuck there another hour. The Arts and Crafts Route is not like town. You can't walk to the next area. We called the number on our map but they just said we must not have been at the stop for that route. Um NO. The yellow trolley is the only one that goes out that far to Morning Mist. An hour later though the trolley did stop. We rode it back to town.
Maybe we just had a bad experience on the yellow route but I would still recommend a car because the shops are spread out and you cannot walk the road back. Also the yellow route ends at 6pm while the other routes are open till 12am.
I recommend the green and red routes around town and the free trolley on the Parkway but I recommend using your car for the Arts and Crafts Route.

While this was nice when we need to flag down the trolley.....this driver stopped for everyone. Regardless of if you were at a trolley stop or not. Nice enough, but make a short trolly ride a very long trolley ride.
