Description: Smoky Mountain Trout House prides itself on offering absolutely the freshest trout in Gatlinburg. Our trout are ice packed directly to the restaurant. Once it has arrived we take great care in our preparing your selection exactly as you like. All of the trout served in this restaurant are Rainbow Trout, grown in the sparkling clear waters of the Smokies. The purity and flavor of mountain trout offered great pleasure to the original settlers of the Smokies. So... have a seat, rest a spell and you, too, can enjoy a special treat... real Smoky Mountain trout! Thank you for visiting us and remember to treat yourself to trout... It's as good as all outdoors!

“Excellent dining experience”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

The grilled trout was so very good. I order trout frequently when we visit the area and this was the best I have tasted. There are many different trout offerings as well as prime rib, ribeye, and catfish for the non-trout lovers. They prepare the fresh trout onsite so they tell you there may be small bones in some of the dishes, but it was not a problem. All of the salad dressings are homemade and so tasty. Try the Thousand Island. The broccoli casserole was also excellent. The key lime pie was very good. The owner and waitress were very friendly and service was also excellent. The night were there was an off season weekend. They take reservations except in October.

“Outstanding Service and Great Food!”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

It is the off-season in January. Tonight, no reservation needed. Called ahead , was told, parking is across the street. We sat next to the fireplace , a gas type in the center of the front guest room.Very friendly staff, all smiles. Our waitress Jamie, is very personable , extremely attentive, and knowledgeable about both the menu and the city as well. We started with trout fritters and cornbread hush puppies, very fresh , spiced well and not greasy. Not a fish eater, my spouse had the house salad with homemade dressing ,country ham, which was not too salty, but very flavorable!, With a baked potato cooked just right. I had the trout Eisenhower with bacon crumbled butter and sauteed mushrooms and onion. The fish was perfect, battered lightly, not greasy and flaky. The side of steamed broccoli was , just the right amount of crunch, not raw or over cooked. The owned/manager managed well, and keep wait times short. An excellent dining experience for us!

“Great use of a rainbow trout”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

Small, cozy restaurant in downtown Gatlinburg. A number of delicious menu items with rainbow trout, including parmesian, blackened, broiled, stuffed with rice, etc. Served with a potato or other vegetable. The owner comes around a few times to check on you, ask about your trip and where you came from. Very nice.

“A wonderful surprise in an unassuming package”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

We landed in Gatlinburg on New Year's Eve and were looking to get a good meal while avoiding the crowds and the Hard Rock Cafe-type restaurants on the main drag. We stumbled on this place because it was close to our hotel. What a happy accident! It is a lovely little place with a cozy ambiance including a warm fire, and it gives the feeling of a Smoky Mountains lodge without being tacky or themed in any way. The service was warm and genuine. And the food was fantastic! We are from New York City and Chicago and we are picky about our food! I had the smoked trout and my husband had the prime rib. Both were absolutely delicious, as was the homemade key lime pie (our waitress had made it). Perfectly cooked, accompanied by a fluffy baked potato and scrumptious hush puppies. What a treat! I'd recommend this place to anyone who visits Gatlinburg.

“Only one drawback”
Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

Dinner was good.. Blackened trout awesome... Smoked trout awesome... Cole slaw homemade and very good. Had 7:00 reservations, they snuck us in a 6... Table area very small.. On beat for Gatlinburg... Our table was close to door and very cold... So wear warm socks... would still recommend to all.. house white wine fair price and accompanied trout well.
