I was a bit nervous traveling to this resort based on some of the reviews but my whole family agreed this was a very nice resort. The property has typical resort buildings and also individual chalets. We were in an individual chalet (117) and it was perfect. We had plenty of space, a washer and dryer, 2 full baths, free internet, and full kitchen. The only negative I can think of is that the beds were a little to soft but all in all, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The resort also has 2 heated outdoor pools, an indoor pool, and 2 jacuzzi's. The main pool was not crowded during the day but was quite full in the evenings. The other pool was exactly the opposite, crowded during the day and empty at night (it overlooks the mountains). There were grills near the clubhouse and by the pools. The security guard at the front was a litte harsh everytime you came in which we found comical since someone was only there 50% of the time. There is a grocery store within a block of the resort and the Gatlinburg trolley has a stop in front of it. My teens used this to go into Gatlinburg at night. It costs .50 so a great deal considering there is no free parking anywhere that we could find.

My wife and I stayed here a couple of nights for our anniversary in early Spring. Overall, we were very pleased with our unit and the staff on our first stay here. In fact, there was a Happy Anniversary balloon and a heart made of rose petals on the bed, which my wife thought was a nice little touch.
We didn't use the pool, fitness center, etc. They looked nice, though. Instead, we hit the trails in the Greenbrier section of the Smokies.
Although generally pleased with MountainLoft, as a Bluegreen owner I think a little extra cleaning and sprucing up in certain areas would be helpful. One example is the stairs/elevator area of the building we stayed in, which needed some cleaning and some minor repairs. Our only issue in our room was ants, but they were only in the dining room. I guess they were getting active with the warming weather and hunting anything they could to eat. We didn't report it until we left because we didn't want to smell the pesticides they would have to spray.
Since we live pretty close, we won't be staying here much, but it is a place I'd come back to for a quick getaway.

Check in was quick. Desk personnel all very friendly and helpful throughout our 5 day stay. The rooms were very clean and appeared to have been freshly painted. Our unit was well stocked with amenities. Beautiful views from our balcony. I would definitely stay again. Only a couple of miles out of the main touristy area which I appreciated. Quiet. Clean. Well maintained property.

We stay here almost every year, we like that it is a few miles off the main strip and the trolley stops at the main entrance three nice pools and a great game room and activity area. We have stayed in the standard and villa and enjoyed both. There are even bears in the area from time to time which is pretty cool. We will be staying again this September and look forward to our stay.

Room Tip: the one bedroom villa with fireplace and a nice veiw from the patio, all are set up the same and ver...

We arrived at MountainLoft at approximately 4:40 pm on April 27, 2012. We checked in, got directions to room 1119, was given a sheet of instructions on how to handle bears and ladybugs, drove to the building, carried everything in, and laid out toiletries, hung up shirts, and unpacked food and snacks. We rested until dinnertime at 7:00 pm, which was an owner appreciation dinner. We had dinner from 7:20 to 8:30 pm and returned to room 1119. Ralph went to bed immediately as he had sinus surgery on Wednesday April 25 and was exhausted from the trauma and anesthesia. Rebecca went to bed at approximately 9:30 pm. Ralph woke up at 11:30 pm and went to the bathroom. Rebecca was awakened and also went to the bathroom after Ralph. When Ralph returned to bed he turned on the television and when Rebecca returned to bed it wasn’t 5 minutes that Ralph exclaimed “turn on the lights quick I see something”. Turning on the light revealed bugs scurrying all over the bed spread. Ralph caught one in a Kleenex to examine exactly what the culprit was, squashed it an blood emitted all around where the bug residue remained. We looked at each other and exclaimed “BEDBUGS”. We pulled back the covers and we saw many more with blood stains all over the sheets. We caught three in zip lock bags for evidence and called the main desk. Within ten minutes a security guard appeared at our door and offered us another room. We declined in disgust as we were both very upset and were not going to sleep in that building or any other place we thought there might be bedbugs. We placed all of our belongings in the bed of our truck including shoes and Ralph’s shirt as to contain the bedbugs. We departed MountainLoft at approximately 1:00 am Saturday April 28. Driving home to Andersonville, Tennessee we had to decide on how not to contaminate our house of three years old and decided to call our house sitters when we got close and told them we were returning because of bedbugs and to remain in their bedroom because we were going to strip down naked in the driveway and head for the showers. We scrubbed each other thoroughly and finally got to bed at approximately 4:30 am that morning. At 7:00 am we got up and Ralph took all our luggage and clothes to a burn pile, poured gasoline on them and burned them, including toiletries, hair drier, flat iron, and food that had been in the room. We left her empty purse and the Bluegreen member information in the back of the truck to contemplate their future. We then drove back to mountain loft in a different truck as we were not sure of the condition of the truck we had originally driven there. We got to the main office at 12:00 noon and asked to talk to a manager. We were then asked why we said “bedbugs” and were immediately taken from the main lobby to a private office. When we talked to Terri Wilkins she was extremely apologetic and checked us out and made sure no charges went on our credit card. Little did we know we were the ones that should have gotten a damage deposit instead of them? She told us to call Assistant General Manager Anna Mason on May 7, 2012 as she was on vacation until then. We asked “what was the determination of the exterminator” that was called in that morning and she said she did not know at that time but she had seen the bloody sheets and zip lock bags with bugs. She and a maintenance worker had flipped the mattress and saw no more bugs. We left MountainLoft at 12:35 pm and headed home exhausted from the ordeal. Ralph was so exhausted he nodded off at the wheel on the interstate and Rebecca prevented an accident with her intervention. When we reached home at approximately 2:30 pm, Terri had left a message to call her. We called her immediately and told us to call Chris Iapaluccio of Risk Management for Bluegreen resort on Monday afternoon April 30, 2012. We followed her instruction and called him at 2:00 pm and had to leave a voice message on his answering machine. We called Terri Wilkins May 1 at 11:30 am and informed her we left a message for him and we were not called back. She said she would call him and find out why he had not returned our call. Chris Iapaluccio called at 1:36 pm obviously disturbed about us calling Terri Wilkins about his non response and he had only got the message that morning. For all we knew he was on vacation for two weeks also but it was all right for us to sit next to the phone for as long as it took for them to get back to us to straighten up their mess. Our life was on hold so the management of Bluegreen could “think”. The first thing that was brought up was that there was other ways to exterminate bedbugs rather than burning our clothes. We explained that at that time of the morning on a Saturday was the only way we knew that we knew to not contaminate our home with an infestation. He also mentioned that we were offered another room that we declined. We informed him that we could not have slept after the experience we had just gone through and why would you want us to infest another room? He directed us to make a list of our loss and we e-mailed it to his office.
We did not hear anything from Bluegreen and on May 7, 2012 (our wedding anniversary) so we called Anna Mason as directed to resolve the claim at 10:20 am and left message to call us regarding bedbugs. We called again at 3:52 pm the same day and had to leave another message. At 3:59 pm she called informed us that it was bedbugs and the mattress had been burned and both 1119 and adjoining room had been treated. She said it was the first time bedbugs were discovered after hours and they had a spray that would kill the bugs and we would not have to had burn our clothes. I asked if it killed the eggs and she said “no”. I then asked “What was the point? Since the eggs would hatch and infest our home”. She mentioned that they were going to leave the spray with security at night of the off hours. I asked for copies of the security officers and exterminator report and was denied because they were internal documents and would maybe have to be subpoenaed. We received a called on May 8, 2012 at 11:19 am from Chris Iapaluccio informing us they would only pay $300 that we did not have to burn our clothes that there were other options. Our loss totaled over $2700 and the $300 would not even cover the cost of our shoes. We then asked him why they burned the mattress and he said that they should not have burned it that there are other ways to kill bedbugs. I asked why they didn’t give out directions on how to handle bedbugs with the bear and ladybug directions? Of course they do not want the owners/renters to know about the bedbugs. I then told him to place the $300 where the sun doesn’t shine because we knew there was not going to be an ”Owning of Responsibility” on their part and it was all about their money.

We do not regret burning our possessions to protect our home. We found out what kind of people are managing Bluegreen resort as it was insinuated we brought the bedbugs in with us on a couple of conversations. When told this was their first bedbug incidence it was not true or why would it be the first occurrence after hours and they had a spray to kill the adults. We were not only victims of bedbugs but also a victim of corporate greed and their attempt to keep quiet their infestation and cost their clients thousands of dollars instead of owning up to the problem they have and fixing them. We have been affected financially as that was the most expensive and miserable night we have stayed anywhere in our life. We have been affected psychologically as we have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from the ordeal of being eaten alive while we slept. We have also discovered bedbugs transmit Hepatitis B. One more worry.

In closing we can only inform other people about our experience so they will not suffer as we have. Here is a list of dos and don’ts.

1. Do not take anything into your overnight stay that you do not want to destroy. I advise leaving everything in your vehicle, if you have one. Zip-loc everything you take into the room and keep them in the bag when not in use.
2. Inspect the room as best you can even this is not a fool proof plan.
3. Shower immediately before leaving and dress in the shower, leaving the Zip-loc bags in the room.
4. On a hot day of above 90 degrees F an automobile will reach temperatures of above 120 degrees sustained for over two hours, which kills bedbugs and their eggs. This is how we were able to save Rebecca’s purse and the Bluegreen membership notebook and information. Ralph measured a temperature of 130 degrees on May 2nd and left the articles there for 4 hours at that temperature.
5. I advise everyone to get informed about how to handle a bedbug infestation.
6. Last but not least do not get between corporate greed and the all mighty dollar, especially Bluegreen Resort.

We will never get our money, time, or sanity back.

We are Bluegreen owners and this was our 4th visit here. Haven't been since 2009 and the place has gone down. Waited an hour at check-in (they forgot about us) only to get a room with broken air conditioning on an 85 degree day. They graciously moved us... to another unit with no air. Finally found us a place. I accept we're in the woods and bugs don't bug me but there were winged ants (termites?) in the upstairs bathroom. Our keys wouldn't work the last night we were there and it took 4 trips to check-in bldg to try and fix them. I don't think we'll be back for a while. Still a great location and nice property though. Just need better management.

Wow! Where do I start? Well, for one thing, I traveled a very long way, from Wisconsin to come here in Tennessee. 12 hours for me because I have small children, and we needed to stop, etc. The place that we got was unbelievable, I walked in, and they gave me 2 units(we have 4 children, so I think it was for 6 people) The units were very nice, even had 2 kitchens, even though we only used one. The master bedroom actually had a decent size bed--A King, wasn't expecting that one! Then there was a jacuzzi in our Master. Our girls spent their night in the bedroom, and the boys spent their nights in the family room aside. The place had 2 fireplaces, even though it was in the spring time, and really not needed.
They had 3 pools, 2 outside, and 1 inside, I believe, but it was so nice we used the one that was outside, and you will see the pictures I have posted. It was awesome! You could see the Smoky's from where you were swimming, fresh air, open, and just absolutely wonderful!
It was in like a huge "apartment" type complex, but you didn't feel like that, because the interiors were very nice.
Granted they were like 15 years behind in replacing the TV's, but we weren't there for that. Staff was very friendly, and helpful when needed. Always checked up on us after a visit was given for towels, minor maintenance, etc. Really appreciated. I will love to come back if we can get a close of deal that we got this time!

Cons: we could only book a 5 day time spot. Then we went to a place I wish we didn't book, but it was cheap.

Really awesome, you'll love it. IF you can get to go there, GO for it! You'll love it, and the views are just spectacular!

We even saw 2 wild turkeys!

Room Tip: choose the biggest amount of rooms, even if you have a smaller party. It's worth it, heck you m...
