Had a great stay here! Me and my husband just came up for a one night get away without our babies. It was a great stay and I have nothing to complain about at all! Joe at the front desk was a GREAT help in making sure we got everything we needed!

Room Tip: Make sure u deal with Joe!!!!

My family just stayed 1 night. We live close and we often go up to Gatlinburg for a night or two to get away sometimes. Our daughter's favorite thing to do is to play in the pool so she was extremely excited for the indoor pool. It was very cold!!!! It was the only topic of conversation among the other guests. I guess next time we will try another hotel. Maybe the Glenstone Lodge where we normally go but it was booked up.

First, let's dispense with the negatives. The tub did not drain too fast and though I am sitting this morning typing this online for about 80% of the time I was unable to connect to the Wifi and Alice could not for 90%. Not that we wanna spend a lot of the time surfing the web, but planning our day was made that much more difficult blind. The website had a "come-on price" of $37.37 per night, but we had to pay $59 per night when we clicked the link. Even with the buy 2 get 1 it was still more than the original price advertised.

Our room was spacious, clean, well appointed and just what we needed. We stayed three nights and have no complaints. The pool area is as advertised. Wow. That alone is reason to come here in the off season winter months. Though we did not try the Cafe the people we spoke with raved about it. All in one central area. We told the staff our dog was crated and for once our room was cleaned daily. Doesn't sound like much, but most chain hotels that take dogs have stopped cleaning rooms with them, crated or not.

All in all, the positives outweigh the negatives and we will add this hotel to our list of off season places to stay. Well done!

We stayed here for 5 nights. The price and the pictures of the pool is what brought us here. The rooms are old and sort of musty, and the pool looked pretty dirty in person. The Grotto was neat however, and the staff was very friendly. Unfortunately they were re-roofing while we stayed so it was very noisy. The beds were very uncomfortable, and would slide off the box if you roll around. The location is OK. There are some things to do that are walking distance, but its an uphill walk back!

Room Tip: Creek side rooms looked a little nicer, and probably worth the extra money.

we stayed here 2 nights. The price was good ! Very good!
The staff was superb, especially the front desk person - Will.
The room was clean but small for us (2 adults, 2 kids and 1 infant).
The location, in my opinion is far from being the best in town. Try to find a hotel on Parkway street- it'll save you the walk or parking fares.

Room Tip: Choose the river side, it's nicer than the courtyard side

We have stayed at the Sidney James Motor Lodge 2 times. First was an overnight trip in June of 2011, which was fine. Room was clean, no bugs, no bad smell. 2nd time was in March of 2012. We were placed in a room that was poorly upkept. The TV did not work (the cable wire had been cut by someone) there were bugs and it felt generally unsafe. At first when we approached the front desk they did not want to move us, but after having the gentleman come up and look at the room he moved us (with his apologies) to another room, which was in much better condition. The location is okay, the pool is great, the kids loved it! Of course this is an older hotel, so it is pretty outdated, but most of the hotels in Gatlinburg with the exception of a select few are kind of outdated so it is to be expected. The price was okay, it probably should have been lower... I would stay here again if I had to, but there are better hotels out there for the price you pay. I looked at this hotel for a trip my husband and I are taking in March 2013 and they wanted 114 a night for a jacuzzi suite. I can go to Bearskin Lodge at the River which is on River Road and is a lot nicer than this hotel and get a jacuzzi suite with a fireplace and creek view for less than this, and that price includes a continental breakfast. Armed with this information, I will be staying elsewhere. For what its worth, there are better deals elsewhere for nicer places.

My Wife & I stayed here over the Christmas Holiday. We were satisfied with the room they gave us. Bed was sleepable and the room was quiet which is always an issue with us. The staff was friendly also. We stayed in the older section of this Hotel and it could use some renovating. We liked that the Hotel was off the main drag of town but was close to the Trolley stop. The pool was a nice feature as well. Breakfast in their restaurant was the only option and I do wish the room had a coffee pot. The Wi-Fi did work but was spotty. Overall we felt we got what we paid for. If you want to stay at the better places in Gatlinburg folks, you'll have to pay more!
