I got a great deal on the hotel ( I thought) but from some of the other reviews I saw I was not expecting it to look like its website. But the price was just great for Gatlinburg. It turns out the"resturant" only opens from 8-2 and then opens for dinner only when the owner wants to. Not open for dinner when I was there. The hot tub was not hot enough. The room I got was supposedly non-smoking - but smelled stale and a little smoky. Bed and pillows not comfortable, needed an AC unit that was stronger for the size of the room. The good news was room was large, on the creek with little balcony and that was nice. I had a small refrigerator. There was an indoor and outdoor pool, as well. Fairly close to downtown , parks and nature trails so if you don't plan to spend a lot of time there its ok. They do not give you any info in your room on TV channels, the facilities themselves, where vending and ice are, etc. They also did not have my reservation when I got there- they blamed that on the company I booked thru- but I had a confirmation #, so we got it worked out. Luckily they were not very busy or I might have had problem. The room itself was fairly clean, the grounds- not so much.

Room Tip: Only worth it to get a creekside room

5 in our party - our rooms were clean and spacious - lots of storage available. The air conditioning was a bit noisy but we are non too knowledgeable with the system and did not attempt to adjust! Downhill walk to Gatlinburg main street. We did not use room service or the swimming pool.

We have been staying here for years (probably a total of 10 stays or more), and absolutely love it. It's convenient to downtown, its very quiet, near a park, great pools (a total of 3 pools), and the staff is second to none when it comes to kindness and making you feel welcome. The best part is we can take our dog so the entire family gets to enjoy vacation...see ya in December Sidney James

Kind of run down.. reserved a room with a fireplace, it did not work. told them at the front desk and nothing was ever done. could use a good cleaning. was close enough to down town, you could walk.. people had smoked on the balcony there were butts on the roof and empty packages on the roof also. just needed a really deep deep deep clean. hall way smelled like musky room that needed a good airing out.

We hosted our 22nd reunion at the Sidney James. It is an older hotel but very clean. Everyone there went out of their way to make our reunion great. Printha runs the little cafe and was exceptional. She really pulled through for us when we had a mix up in our plans. Tommy Hefner, the sales manager was fantastic. If we needed anything, he went out of his way to help. A very memorable reunion thanks to Sidney James Mountain Lodge and Gatlinburg.

Room Tip: The rooms with a balcony off the creek are great.
