White Oak Lodge & Resort
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed November 10, 2012

Just got back from a week at White Oak Lodge & Resort. Had a wonderful little cabin for the Hubby and I. Our 4th year going back there..we go at least once a year, and sometimes twice. Each season has it's perks! A great pool in the summer on the premises and of course all of the activities and attractions that Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have to offer...and in the fall/winter, you have access to a really nice indoor pool just two blocks away at a neighboring resort! The colors this time of year were just spectacular on the Smoky Mountains..we did encounter some snow up at the overpass to Cherokee, it was so beautiful to see!
Can't say enough about the resort itself! We usually stay in the condos on the premises, but were lucky enough to get a cabin this time. Either way, there is nothing you could want for while away. The facilities are wonderfully clean and beautifully decorated! The whirlpool tubs are wonderful after a long hike on the mountain....The wifi and electronics are totally up to date, at first we thought the ceiling fans didn't work, til Charlie pointed out to us the simple little button to push on the wall, lol...Can't say enough about Charlie (the property manager there) He's ALWAYS available and happy to help with recommendations or solutions to any questions or concerns you may have...He's such a fascinating guy to talk to and always a friendly face around the property..Just got home but we're already looking foward to going back again in the spring! HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this resort, you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: We prefer the upper level condos when staying there (only because the ceilings are high, you don'...

We've been coming here for 6 years in a row now. We take 3 vacations a year, and always go someplace new -- except in October. We came to White Oak 6 years ago and come back every year. Charlie is absolutely fantastic! If you ever had an issue, he will take care of you like you are family. If you are coming to Gatlinburg, this is by far the best place to be. It's quite, away from all the hussle and traffic, but close enough to all the major sites. One visit here, and you'll keep coming back.

Room Tip: Any of the cabins are absolutely great -- pick anyone, they are all awesome. If you stay in a condo...

We have just finished a wonderful week's vacation at White Oak. Our cabin (#163) was fantastic -- two bedrooms, two baths, kitchenette, dining table that seats six easily, comfy living room with fireplace and TV. The master BR had a fabulously comfortable king bed, TV, jacuzzi in the room, balcony, and a bathroom with two sinks and a great tiled 2-headed shower. Also in the upstairs loft was a billiard table. Downstairs was a queen BR with TV and a large full bath across the hall, again with a 2-headed shower, and a washer/dryer. As mentioned by many, the place was spotless. Whoever heard of a log cabin without a spider web? None seen. Also, they provided more than the usual "starter set" of cleaning products.

The view was beautiful from our front porch and a diamond shaped window viewed from the second floor. It was about 15 minutes from Gatlinburg -- great to be away from the horrible traffic and tacky attractions.

The hot tub was an extra $30 and well worth it. We loved the soak after a long day of golf and hiking.

Cheryl and Janine in the office were so helpful, providing us with discounts on attractions and advice about hikes.

This place was terrific and we would definitely come again!

I agree with nearly everything on TA. The pros - clean, quiet, kids loved the log cabin. Cons - the wi-fi doesn't work often, lots of things which would have been handy, not in kitchen. I'd read about how great the bathrooms are etc. well, to be honest the tiling in our bathroom (159) was more like crazy paving - but I was staying four nights, not living there. And yes both bathrooms had his and hers sinks - but in a three bedroom log cabin I wondered why every time I went in there. The sealant is mouldy and grouting cracked, but I see that in nearly every hotel bathroom and I'm picking now. Summary, if you're going to visit the Smokys, want somewhere clean and quiet, it's here. As for the location, it was ideal for us. It's out of town, but having spent the last day of our holiday walking up then down the main street in Gatlinburg I can honestly say that was a blessing.

Room Tip: All the log cabins looked good from the outside.

This property was incredible. The cabin was clean and beautiful. Large bathrooms and everything we needed in the kitchen. Loved the Hot Tub on the back porch and the beautiful view for my morning coffee on the front porch. The pool was absolutely gorgeous as well. The property is away from the hustle and bustle, but not too far to go participate when you want to. The property manager, Charlie, was very warm, friendly and helpful. The ladies in the front office were the same, very informative on what to do and where to go. We ended up finding FREE activities that we liked more than the paid ones thanks to them! The only thing we didn't like was the spotty wifi service and absolutely NO cell service. But, something can be said for going "unplugged" on vacation. My family has wonderful memories of this place and we will definitely be returning! Many thanks to Charlie & Co. for a job well done!

This was a very nice place to stay. We stayed in a condo unit that was very spacious and well cared for with everything we needed. The property was well maintained and and when building they thought about the preservation of the trees to keep the area wooded. The only issue we had while there was connectivity ... our phones (AT&T) did not get reception --- however, the resort has accommodated for this by making land line calls free (even Long Distance). Also, the free wireless worked the first couple of days but stopped after that. I asked about it, and they said they'd try to get it fixed.

We had a wonderful time there --- nice being away from the Gatlinburg crowds.

This place was far and above our expectations. I have been a GDV member for 7 years and we have stayed at some really great places but White Oak Cabins beats them all. We had a 2 bedroom cabin with a Jacuzzi tub in the corner of the master bedroom and a 4 person hot tub out on the screened in porch. Right out side our upstairs master bedroom was a pool table the my kids just loved. The pool was a little cold for me but my 2 kids didn't mind, they loved the waterfalls. The pool was beautiful though. We can't wait to go back
