our 12 and 10 year old girl and boy really liked it. some of it they said was creepy but like a scary movie they were thrilled. lots of history. take your time and read everything. our kids even did they were so in to it. I wish they could rebuild the damaged building from the earthquake that would have made it even better. We really enjoyed it and liked doing it at our own speed. would have like a portable devise to tell the story like at Alcatraz but its still worth a stop. The Car museum was a hit with the kids too and my husband.

The old prison and car museum are definitely worth a visit. There's lots of interesting history here and the car museum blew us away! Room after room of really cool old cars and trucks, many of which were serious collector items.

This was a nasty filthy place. The staff was rude, half of what was advertised was closed or gone and the place was swarming with bugs. No guided tours are available though you will receive a B & W photo copied guide you will be asked to return after the tour.

The Montana Prison Complex has something for everyone. Great that it opens early (8:00 am) so travelers can visit before hitting the road. The history of the prison is fascinating and you can actually go inside, seeing that jail isn't like the movies. Parts were dark and musty. You can just imagine times back when the building was in use. There is a small women's prison also. The car museum was also a favorite. Great variety of cars and covered a lot of years. There were photos that showed people out camping and how some tents were attached or adjacent to their cars. There was a very old "pop-up tent trailer". The place was well worth the visit. Price for museum admission very reasonable. Kids will also enjoy visiting.

We toured the Montana Prison Complex. The self-guided tour of the prision was straight forward and easy to follow. An added bonus to the tour of the prision was the car museum. Those of you who are "car fans" will really like this museum. We would recommend this attraction to all.
