The Crooked Spoon calls itself a cafe, but it is a lot more gourmet than that. We went there because it was recommended by the owner of the motel where we were staying. He told us everything they put on a plate is good, and it did not disappoint. We had the special, which was pan fried whitefish, and an amazing salad featuring grilled romaine, watermelon, pork belly, and blue cheese. Fantastic! It's a funny little place and it doesn't look fancy, but the food is definitely upscale.

We went to the Crooked Spoon Cafe to eat on a Friday night in August. The wait for a table was 45 - 60 minutes. We didn't want to wait, but after peeking in the window and looking at the food and the presentation on all the plates, we knew that we wanted to eat here. Since we were staying at a hotel within walking distance, we decided to get our food to go. This was an excellence choice for us, because we had teenagers that were starving! Our order was ready in 20 minutes. The steak special was AWESOME! Both my husband and I worked in the food industry and we couldn't believe the size of the steak. It was at least 2 inches thick on one end and cooked to perfection -- medium -- light pink all the way through. It was the best steak we've ever had! It was served with buttermilk mashed potatoes that were fantastic and a fresh veggie and bread. The light gravy/sauce that came with the steak was so tasty! We also ordered the Lake Superior white fish that was cooked in a white wine sauce with lemon. The fish was so meaty and tender! The wild rice and veggies were cooked to perfection. The generous portion of fish was excellent. We all enjoyed a bowl of their french onion soup too. It is served with their own special topping. The 2 meals and soup fed our family of four! We will make the Crooked Spoon Cafe a tradition for our family from now on. The take out option worked out perfect. Why waste your time standing in line, when you take it to go and sit on the beach or your hotel room and eat a gourmet meal!! You won't be disappointed if you eat at this wonderful place!

This is one of my new favorite restaurants. The food was an incredible experience. The quality of the ingredients was top notch. The combinations were well thought out and the end result was out of this world! The service was outstanding and reflected the high end quality of the chef and his cuisine.

The menu noted that the Appetizers for Two. Well, the mussels were fabulous. Yes, I did share them with my husband. But the next time I'll order 2 mussel appetizers for we could have eaten two instead of an entree. The blueberry pie was so good that we ordered 2 slices!
