Description: When it comes to our famous pies or our amazing breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus the secret is simple - our first ingredient is always love! We are a family-owned restaurant that has proudly served up gourmet home-cooking and a warm atmosphere on the North Shore of Lake Superior since 1996. Our bakery boasts an extensive selection of berry pies, cream pies, and specialty pies, alongside cookies and cakes and other seasonal desserts! Pies are baked daily entirely from scratch using all of the best available ingredients to ensure a flavor unlike any other. But at The Pie Place Café, we're about more than just pies! Locals and visitors alike enjoy our summer breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. We've been called the best breakfast on the North Shore and it's not hard to see why with our popular Maple Sausage Patties, omelets, and pancakes. Our lunch and supper menus feature favorites like the Black Bear Blueberry Salad and Three Meat Maple Meatloaf - hands down the best meatloaf we've ever tried! Whether you're joining us for one of our namesake pies or an unforgettable Pie Place Café dinner, we look forward to making you feel right at home.

“Over priced pie!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

I stopped to buy a whole pie but ended ordering two pieces of the same kind of pie when told the price of a whole pie was $24! Each piece was $5.50. The server was pleasant and not overly busy when I stopped mid afternoon. To my amazement, when I opened the bag later, I discovered only one small box. It contained both pieces of pie, obviously neither of much size and the bottom one a bit smashed. Why each piece didn't get its own box is a mystery. If the pie had been really good, I could have forgiven the single box, but the pie was mediocre at best and definitely hadn't been made fresh that day. This felt like "tourist beware" and was very disappointing.

“Wonderful view!”

Eating breakfast with a window table that gives you a beautiful view of the Grand Marais harbor can't be beat. The menu is very unique with lots of unusual choices and combinations.

Service was good. Prices a bit high.

“Service could be better”

Nice little place, with a view of the lake. Food was good, and averagely priced; but the wait staff could use more training on how to efficiently work as a team when the place is busy.

“Wonderful breakfast with a great view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2013

We ate at The Pie Place mostly because other restaurants were full, but were very pleasantly surprise by how good the food was! I had crab cake benedict, while my wife had an omlet, and both were very tastey!

The service was fine, and, with the harbor right outside, the view from our window table was perfect!

My meal was a little pricey, but it was not overly so, given that it was made from real crab, and this is Minnesota, after all. My wife's omlet was quite reasonable.

The restaurant is just down the street from some of the most popular shops in Grand Marais.

“Good lunch good view.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

The food was very good and the wait staff were college students from eastern Europe. It was interesting to hear their views on northern Minnesota and the USA. I had a honey chicken salad sandwich on cranberry bread which was awesome. The restaurant in across from the harbor so a table by the window has a great view. An very good place to eat and the service was excellent.
