“Comfy good food with small town feel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2014

We (six adults) had just finished four days in Boundary Waters canoe camping & were looking for casual dining, early afternoon. Everybody else had lunch, but I opted for their awesome blueberry pancakes. Perfection. Other highlights were hot chocolate (with free refill!) gooey with whipped cream and chocolate drizzles. Yum! Patty melt good, but not special. Walleye sandwich delicious. And a good salad, always appreciated after a few days in the woods. Waitress was pleasant, attentive and accurate with everything. Bill was $90 before tip.

“Great food. Reasonable prices”

We've been frequent visitors to Grand Marias for many years. Blue Water always gives us a great meal. It's where the locals eat.

“Reasonable priced, average food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2014

This is open a little later than some places in Grand Marais, which is the primary reason you might want to choose it. Our food was average, maybe a little below average. Reasonably priced ($10 for walleye fishsticks), adequate service. Like many places in the region, they appear to struggle to find enough summer help, given the low unemployment rate in Minnesota in 2014. Not a place we'd visit again, though, given the other choices available.

“Lots of food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2014 via mobile

Oh my! You know a place is good when it is packed with local patrons! We went here the day after being disappointed with World's Best Donuts, and we're very happy we did! My husband said the biscuits and gravy were the best he'd ever had, and I loved the breakfast potatoes that come with many breakfast dishes. The Angler's breakfast was huge, but delicious! We went back for breakfast the next day, and I was thrilled with the Swedish pancake and lingonberry sauce, while my husband ate his entire mushroom and Swiss omelet. The coffee could be better...but there's always the Java Moose for that.

“Pricey”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2014

The food was average. $10 for a omelet without hash-browns is kind of steep. Four of us dropped over $40 for cakes and eggs. We won't be back.
