“Fresh & Local”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Two years ago we went here and always hoped we'd be back for a second visit. This year our hopes were realized... and we went twice within a 3-day vacation. We love their salads (some of the most unique ever served, if only because of the amazingly fresh and organic vegetables, along with whatever fruits are available, and the delicious dressings), and the fried fish basket is amazing. But you have to know which fish is better in what formats... e.g., the smaller local fish may not be what you want on your sandwich or it may get lost in amongst the bread & homemade tartar sauce. Prices can add up when you are a family dining together, but it is usually worth it. Especially when you realize that your fish was brought in that day from the docks located behind the restaurant! And of course the view cannot be beat...

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent view!

This restaurant is always a stop for us when we are up the North shore.

The staff seem genuinely happy to be working here!

“Great views, good food.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

We have been to this restaurant a few times and each time the food had been excellent. The menu is not large, but there is enough choice for everyone. We really enjoyed the fish dishes here. Simple, but good. The fried fish basket, lunch menu, is a good size for people with smaller appetites. Service is good, waiters are knowledgable and friendly.
Be prepared to wait in peak times as it is deservedly a popular place to eat.

“Great location, great food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

We recently visited the Angry Trout while driving the Lake Superior Circle Tour. How could we pass it up with such a cool name? We stopped for a late lunch and got seated outdoors right away! We both had the chowder, which was very flavorful and served with a crusty bread. We shared the fish and chips, which was basically a large filet that was lightly breaded. It was very good also. The dill tartar sauce was a welcome change from the ordinary.

“Right on the bay in Grand Marais”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

We sat outside on the deck and had the fish and chips. Nice location, food was very good and service was fast and friendly! Would eat here again. Prices seemed a little high, however portions were large. We shared our meal, which was plenty for two people.
