Barbara and Ted are outstanding hosts. We enjoyed our four nights at Poplar Creek very much. The rooms were spacious with high quality linens and many little 'extras' in each room. We had booked all three rooms for the four days and enjoyed having the place to ourselves. The kitchen facilities were perfect for our lunch and dinner preparations.

One person in our group had a birthday during our stay. We had contacted Barbara in advance and she was so accommodating in planning for this celebration! We really appreciated the cake, balloons and other party decorations.

We really can't say enough about how thoughtful and helpful Barbara and Ted were during our stay. Any request or question was met with a positive attitude and response. The breakfasts were truly special. Each morning a different three course meal was prepared. Barbara puts a lot of thought and effort into each course. The presentation was beautiful and they were delicious.

Excellent accommodations, food and hosts! We highly recommend this B&B and would definitely stay here again when we return to the Boundary Waters.

Barbara and Ted have lived in this area for many years. They were one of the first B&Bs established on the Gunflint Trail.

We have known of this wilderness gem for years, and finally in retirement were able to get there. Our high expectations were not disappointed. Barbara and Ted were welcoming, generous hosts. Our room was large and comfortable, with a thoughtfully provided night light for an old codger with balance issues. The days begin with a walk in the area, the roads and Banadad Trail are safe and pleasant, then coffee and chat with Ted, helping to plan the day. The high light of each day is the healthy, delicious and well prepared three course breakfast which really serves as a brunch. After a third cup of coffee, the options include laying low and enjoying the ambience, or getting energetic and out on a hiking or biking trail. Weather prevented us from canoeing this time, but we have previously enjoyed paddling on the connected Poplar Lake (out of the BWCAW, and no permit needed) and its easy portage connections to to the nearby Wilderness lakes. After a day of joy in the Northwoods, back to PCGH and copious chilled lemonade courtesy Barbara. There are refrigerator cooking facilities available for those who might wish to dine in, and several restaurants close by serving typical midwest non-urban food. We hope to be back for canoeing and skiing.

It was our first time on the Gunflint Trail and we had a wonderful time at the Poplar Creek Guesthouse. Barbara and Ted are the warmest hosts, welcoming and thoughtful; they also helped us a great deal plan our daily trips in an efficient manner in the limited time (2.5 days) we had there. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and well equipped. Last but not least, Barbara`s breakfasts are by far the best you will try in any B&B and possibly anywhere else. We`ll certainly stay with them if we visit Minnesota again.

The Poplar Creek Guesthouse is by far the best B&B I have visited. The Young's are so pleasant and accommodating. The food is exceptional. The suites are spacious and capture the Great atmosphere of the Northwoods. Whether you seek the joys of northern winter (they are located on the Banadad ski trail) or summer fishing or spring and fall canoeing this is the home base you want. I have visited the PCGH six times and never been disappointed.

Thank you. We always look forward to your stays with us. We are pleased that you skied our
ski trails too. With snow continuing to fall, looks like we will out on the trails further into this month, March.

We have been here 3 times in winter and once in the spring-time. Makes no difference it's always so relaxing, and you're treated like family...maybe better! Being with folks that grew up on the Gunflint and yet prepare breakfasts like you're at the Waldorf is beyond normal expectations. Rooms are clean and large. Plus a common area both upstairs and down, with a fireplace up. In the winter you can snowshoe or cross country ski. Or just relax! Little Ollie Lake has canoes in the summer. Want to try a yurt? They have two nearby! What a great get-away! And a great variety of accommodations, from a cabin to rooms with a whirlpool to rooms with two queen beds to a suite with kitchen and fireplace. They have it all!
