Owner description: Colorado River Discovery offers the most fantastic one day rafting trips anywhere on the mighty Colorado River. We provide half-day and full day tours that are perfect for the entire family (kids aged 4 and up). Departing from the scenic town of Page, Arizona, your trip will begin with an exciting and exclusive ride down the two-mile long Glen Canyon Dam access tunnel. At river level, with the dam soaring 700 feet above you, you will board a comfortable pontoon raft for your journey downstream. While on the River, you will experience one of the most dramatic stretches of river in the western United States. Your experienced guide will tell the story of the area’s soaring sandstone cliffs, crystal blue-green waters, abundant wildlife, exploration by Major John Wesley Powell and others, and the river's modern role in the Southwest’s water and power delivery system.A stop to view an impressive set of ancient petroglyphs will offer a you chance to stretch your legs and enjoy your lunch while bearing witness to the area’s former inhabitance by ancient native cultures. If you choose, you may also refresh yourself by wading in the cold, clear river. Come and visit the river that we love... You'll be inspired!

Last week we took the river raft trip from Glen Canyon Dam to Lees ferry. It was a great experience. Booking was easy, the directions were good, the trip was well organized, and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We took the morning trip so it was a little cold in the morning - wish I would have taken a sweatshirt but a hour into the ride, it was getting hot. By the end, it was very hot! Riding through the canyon is great - the red canyon walls are beautiful. The ride back is probably an hour long but the scenery is nice. So assuming that you are awake, you will have something to do. We ordered lunch through Colorado River Discovery. The vegetarian option, a black bean wrap, was tasty.

We had a great time floating down the River with CRD .. CRD did a good job of organizing and delivering on the tour. It seemed a little disorganized/chaotic at their meeting place before hand and they had 2 buses - one nice one and one army surplus - so it paid to be early in line for the ride to the river ( and back home).
We had a very relaxing float - the guide was pleasant enough but seemed a bit bored with the whole thing - I guess its hard to be "fresh" for every trip ? The kids had a great time , our guide pointed out the birds / the interesting points in the canyon, even helped maneuver the raft for a better back drop in our family picture ... !

We drove in from Flagstaff and the trip is as long or longer than our GPS stated - this is due to the 2 lane road and slower moving traffic (with several passing lanes and 4 lanes for parts of it ) . I now wish we had stayed the night in Page and had a leisurely drive with time to stop as some of the outposts and Native American stands along the route ..

We're from NY and I hesitated about this trip due to the cost, but after having experienced it, it was worth the cost. They do it right--safety and comfort but not extravagance--exactly how I would run this business. Very professional outfit, their hq is clean and organized, staff is professional and we felt safe at all times. We rode with Becky ("biologist Becky") who had great facts and a notebook full of photos of wildlife and river boats, etc. she made the trip interesting with her personal experiences.

The trip got a bit long for our 12 year old, but he was happy to hang out on the pontoon and get splashed by the water. I suppose I wouldn't take kids much younger than that on this trip. The early morning air was cool in the shade, so we'd recommend a jacket.

Be sure to book a hotel room before you get here so you can get to hq by 7am. We arrived in Page without a room reservation on a friday night--don't do that. We had to go all the way back to Lee's Ferry for the night. Just Google the major chains.

My husband and I reserved the 1/2 day river raft trip on-line. We were staying at the Grand Canyon and drove the 2 hours to Page Arizona for the trip. Good thing we read that the trip began and ended in Page, because it is advertised on the Grand Canyon website, so we assumed it was nearby. The trip began with a short bus ride to Glen Canyon. We then took the 4 hour raft tour through the canyon with one stop along the way to look at some ancient petroglyphs. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area and had a sincere appreciation for the beauty of the canyon. The cost of the trip was very good considering you were on the boat for 4 hours and they supplied beverages. Most people brought a lunch to eat on the way, in fact they encouraged it. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE- the tour ends in a different location and they take you back to your cars by bus, but it takes about 45 minutes. Plan your schedule accordingly.
