Owner description: Colorado River Discovery offers the most fantastic one day rafting trips anywhere on the mighty Colorado River. We provide half-day and full day tours that are perfect for the entire family (kids aged 4 and up). Departing from the scenic town of Page, Arizona, your trip will begin with an exciting and exclusive ride down the two-mile long Glen Canyon Dam access tunnel. At river level, with the dam soaring 700 feet above you, you will board a comfortable pontoon raft for your journey downstream. While on the River, you will experience one of the most dramatic stretches of river in the western United States. Your experienced guide will tell the story of the area’s soaring sandstone cliffs, crystal blue-green waters, abundant wildlife, exploration by Major John Wesley Powell and others, and the river's modern role in the Southwest’s water and power delivery system.A stop to view an impressive set of ancient petroglyphs will offer a you chance to stretch your legs and enjoy your lunch while bearing witness to the area’s former inhabitance by ancient native cultures. If you choose, you may also refresh yourself by wading in the cold, clear river. Come and visit the river that we love... You'll be inspired!

“This is a MUST do!”

This tour is well worth the money. We really enjoyed the trip and the canyon was fabulous! Our guide, Jerry, was fantastic and the 1/2 day trip was perfect! The pictures I took are just breath taking. This was far more enjoyable than the lake tours of the canyons.

“Absolutely Amazing, Excellent Guids and Staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2010

We thoroughly enjoyed our rafting trip with Colorado River Discovery, Makayla our river guide and Chris our bus driver! We started out from Glen Canyon Dam on a bit of an overcast day.

For those of you who are claustrophobic, be aware, there is a 2 mile, unlit tunnel leading down to the dam from the canyon top. The only lights are from the sun through side tunnels dug to ventilate the tunnel and dump the rock debris. We loved it, but it's not for everyone.

We pre-ordered the bistro bag lunch at $9.50 each, which was fantastic. There were enough, good for you, snacks to keep two hungry kids, their Mom and Dad satisfied. The lunch at Petroglyph Panel beach was really great. The sand was so soft! The water very cold, bring a towel if you choose to brave the water! Horseshoe bend was amazing, from the river and the top of the canyon!

Makayla showed us her personal hidden favorites of the canyon and made our trip over the top. She engaged all her passengers, even the hyper little ones and their fathers.

We saw some amazing scenery and had a great time on the raft. But wait that's not all, on the bus ride back to town, Chris was really amusing in his description of the canyon out of Lee's Ferry. He was great!

If you're ever in Page, Arizona, or close enough to take a day detour, take the day and let Colorado River Discovery wow and amaze you with their rafting trip!

“nice views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2010

We did a sat. morning tour. I'm told typically it's very hot in July even on the morning tour, However, the day was overcast and I think most people were cold during parts of the trip. I would recommend if the day is overcast take something you can put on to keep warm. The boats fit maybe 20 people in each and overall it was a comfortable ride. I was sitting on the side and when the driver sped the boat up water tended to splash on my feet and it is COLD. You make one stop on this trip to a small beach which leads up to some petroglyphs (probably spelling that wrong). These were pretty cool to see and are not really a far walk at all. There are also bathrooms to utilize if you need to at this stop. The views are pretty spectacular and its a nice easy ride. Towards the end I was ready to be done. You have about an hour ride back in your bus when you are done with the rafts. I recommend this trip as a neat way to see the beauty of the area.

“Would recommend this float trip we had a blast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2010

Our family of 4 including 2 older teenagers along with Grandpa took the float trip with Colorado River Discovery over the 4th of July weekend. Our guide Brandon offered us tons of information and great stories about the canyon and the dam while giving us the prespective from a Native's point of view. We all would recommend this trip to young and old alike.
Few items to note:
The box lunch the company offer needs to be ordered in advance though we really didn't need a lunch on this morning float trip as we were back at 12:30 We also took along a waterproof camera instead of our "nice" camera and this was not necessary. Take your real camera and you will be much happier with the pictures.
