Owner description: Colorado River Discovery offers the most fantastic one day rafting trips anywhere on the mighty Colorado River. We provide half-day and full day tours that are perfect for the entire family (kids aged 4 and up). Departing from the scenic town of Page, Arizona, your trip will begin with an exciting and exclusive ride down the two-mile long Glen Canyon Dam access tunnel. At river level, with the dam soaring 700 feet above you, you will board a comfortable pontoon raft for your journey downstream. While on the River, you will experience one of the most dramatic stretches of river in the western United States. Your experienced guide will tell the story of the area’s soaring sandstone cliffs, crystal blue-green waters, abundant wildlife, exploration by Major John Wesley Powell and others, and the river's modern role in the Southwest’s water and power delivery system.A stop to view an impressive set of ancient petroglyphs will offer a you chance to stretch your legs and enjoy your lunch while bearing witness to the area’s former inhabitance by ancient native cultures. If you choose, you may also refresh yourself by wading in the cold, clear river. Come and visit the river that we love... You'll be inspired!

We did the rafting in the morning and then kayaking in the afternoon. The combination provided two opposite, but interesting activities. The placid and sedate raft ride was through outstanding scenery between the impressive and steep canyon walls. The river guide provided continuous amounts of interesting and informative information about the flora, fauna, and geological features of the canyon.

The 3+ hour kayaking portion took place on Lake Powell after lunch. Our kayak guide took us into several coves, showing us different geological features. He also did a good job of providing instruction to those who needed it.

Me, my 10 year old daughter, mom, dad and boyfriend all went on the tour which included the air plane ride to Page AZ, Antelope Canyon and then on a float ride on the Colorado river. It was absolutely excellent! All of the companies employees were awesome. ..especially our river guide, Holly. She was very knowledgeable about the Grand Canyon as well as the river and wildlife. She was very easy going and funny too. She definitely kept us entertained the entire 3 hours we spent with her. She even took a dip in the river along beside my daughter which was hallirious because the water was a freezing 47 degrees! The view from inside the canyon on the river was breathtaking! Even though we were on the river for 3 hours we didnt want to end the trip! The airplane ride was great as well. It was an hour flight from the south rim where we stayed to Page AZ. The pilot flew us directly over the canyon! The view made us speechless. Most people never get to see the aerial view, but its a must see! The tour of Antelope canyon was nothing short of amazing as well. We got some of the most beautiful pictures there. The guides there were very knowledgeable and knew all the right places to angle your lens to get the perfect famous photos of the canyon. They would even take the pic's for you with your camera if you couldn't get the angle quite right. There's
only thing that would've made it better, but wasn't an option to choose from...it would've been perfect if we could've been flown back to the rim instead of the 3 hour bus trip. But even that wasn't that bad. It just gave us time to talk about the experience and catch a nap. I highly recommend this tour to everyone who comes to Arizona! We wouldn't mind doing it all over again next time we are there!

This was a wonderful experience, beginning to end. The trip along the Colorado River was accompanied by a funny and knowledgable guide (Brent) and an equally experienced and charming second guide (Ashley) who joined us on her day off. Together, they made the trip a mix of great information about the canyon and its rich history, as well as a zen-like float amid a natural wonder.

On this trip, you'll lay witness to 1000 foot cliffs, ancient Native American Petroglyphs and you will likely even get a peek at some amazing wildlife, from fowl to fish.

If you're looking for a raging river rafting trip, look elsewhere - this is about a peaceful float downstream (and up again) where nature takes front and center...as it should.

We highly recommend getting on board for a morning journey. (We did the half-day.)

Since my family had never rafted before, I though a smooth water raft ride would be appropriate.
There were seven others with us on our raft, for a total of eleven with our family of four (twelve if you include the guide).

Our float down the Colorado began at the impressive Glen Canyon Dam, which is responsible for creating Lake Powell, and provides a power source. Have your cameras read to take pictures of the dam as you depart on the raft.

It was sunny and hot when we began our trip down the river @ 11:00 am. Please take sunscreen and dress light. Water and lemonade are provided, so be sure to keep hydrated. The river water was a cold 47 degrees, but felt good. We did get wet, so keep that in mind regarding electronics.
A simple ziplock bag will protect devices such as phones and cameras.

James was our guide/raft operator and had a temperament between cordial and pleasant, as he was a little moody at times.

The sand that came onto the raft from people who got off at the beaches blew into our faces and was horribly painful to our eyes. It would be a good idea to wear some type of wrap around sunglasses to help prevent discomfort and/or injury to your eyes.
