“Good Place to Stay”
Reviewed August 13, 2014

This was our 2nd stop on our Grand Circle tour coming from the Grand Canyon. I think if you have a large RV this is probably the best place to stay in the area - unless you actually want to be in Page itself. The campground is very clean as our the restrooms. The sites are nice with fire pits. It was very hot here but that is to be expected. The lake is walking distance which is nice. They also have a decent general store for supplies and ice. If I was visiting the area again this is where I would stay.

we were camping for thee weeks in the USA and his campground looks good, but as other reviews say you should be aware that your tent is in a windy spot no trees etc. we had a storm and our tent almost blew away we had to put a picknick bench on top of it.
When it's hot you have no shade
so if you want to camp here, be prepared.

Stayed 7/18-7/20/14. Stayed at the Waheap Marina hotel. Great place. Room was nice and clean. Air conditioning all through the place. Outside it was 105 degrees in the heat of the day. Humidity was only 12%. Staff was great and friendly. There's even a Starbucks. Very nice gift store too. However, for the cost of staying there, everything is extra. No complementry breakfast. Very nice restrurant, but a little pricey. We had our dogs with us so we were given a room on the 1st level facing the parking lot. Rooms facing Lake Powell on the upper levels are alot more money. That said, the views of Lake Powell are breathtaking. 2 outdoor pools and great landscape.

Room Tip: If you want some privacy, upper floor facing Lake Powell with a balcony.

More than 25 years after our first visit at Lake Powell this place lost its attracitivness. Where is the blue brightness of this beautiful spot on earth? Well, Wahweap is still a great campground, Very friendly staff, clean, great camping spots, WiFi runs good, clean showers and toilets. Just the thing called "beach" is weak, you find better places at Lake Powell if you want to swimm (anyway if you want to spend your beach-holidays, choose Southern California and not Arizona). At Wahweap, the beach is full of prickels so be aware if you walk barefoot. You should ware sandals even in the water.
Lake Powell was always an expensive place but it worth it. But meanwhile the boat-trip to rainbow-bridge doesn't worth its price anymore (long distance walk, take a minimum of one gallon of water with you etc.) As well as the huge costs of a boat rental. With the drought and the low water level the price-performance ratio of the Wahweap amenities is going to a shady point.

Room Tip: A and D Loops could be noisy.

We camped here two years ago in our fifth wheel. Had such a great time and loved the views so much we came back. When I made the reservation I specifically stated we needed a double wide pad as we were renting a boat. After changing the reservation twice due to our needs we were arrived to find we had a single wide pad. The woman at the reservation desk was clearly strapped for a solution but then said she had one site but it was a back in. No problem. My husband is good at backing in our 37 foot fifth wheel. Ironically, it was the exact same site as two years ago. We know we lucked out because this was in prime tourist season. Otherwise the site offered the same great view, everything worked fine and the staff were very kind.

While the park sports cabins, RV lots, a lodge and house boats we came to tent camp. Site was somewhat difficult to use and not well prepared. Showers were located a ways away though clean bathrooms were close. The laundry facility was nice. WiFi was nonexistent and cell phone service was nearly the same. We tried the single beach area and after a long haul down to the water it was simply to dirty to swim in.

Our other surprise as we had not researched it was that the noteworthy landmarks to visit were mostly accessible only by boat. So come prepared to do boat tours or simply rent a houseboat for your stay.

The location is good in that quite a few things are within reach; Vermilion Cliffs, Grand Staircase Escalante, Bryce and Zion Canyons along with the Glen Canyon Dam.

First of all, this campground is in one of the most beautiful spots I have ever been. The views of the lake and surrounding canyon are unbelievable.

When we checked in, the wind was blowing so strong that we could not set our tent. We went into Page to eat. When we returned it had calmed to where we could set up. This was after dark, though.

The next day, while we were out, the wind started up again. When we returned, our tent had been collapsed by the wind, and two poles were broken. I don't know if this wind is normal there, but be advised that you may need to have a sturdy tent if you plan to tent camp. We watched others having trouble setting up and another tent collapsed also. Some tents appeared to do fine though.

We went to the store to buy ice. Very expensive. I would recommend buying items in Page if possible. The store did have a good selection, though.

Went swimming in the small beach. The beach and water both have the ubiquitous thorns, so be careful. The beach itself was nothing special, but the water was wonderful on a hot afternoon.

PROS:
1. Stunning views
2. Clean
3. Nice bathrooms
4. Location
5. Swimming beach
CONS:
1. Thorns
2. Wind
3. Expensive store
