Horseshoe bend is an iconic site that you see on screen savers. We went there in July, there are lots of warning signs about the heat and to make sure you have water. The parking lot is about a mile from the viewing location and it is up and down hills both ways. There is no shade, it is a walk through the desert. The walk is worth it with spectacular views.

Make sure you have at least one bottle of water per person if not two, sun screen, hat and sun glasses. The path is not designed for strollers or wheel chairs.

Definitely go in cool weather. I'm very out of shape for my age, but I can imagine this being hard for older and younger tourists. Bring water, hat and sunscreen. Stay away from the edge.

Loved this. It can get busy, but wander off (where you are allowed to) and you will get some alone time and peace and quiet. Completely free! Beautiful!

After our tour to Antelope Canyon, we took the 10 minute drive to Horseshoe bend. It was about 530pm. We still had a little bit of sun but it was cold. Sights are beautiful. FYI, it is a little bit of a walk with some inclines and declines through dirt and rock roads. This is not wheelchair accessible and I would think it would suck with a stroller also. While you can push a stroller, it may be difficult at times as there is slot of soft sand. Be careful coming up to the edge to see the bend since there is no guardrails in certain areas. Please be careful with your kids. Don’t let them run around alone.

The walk to the viewing point from the carpark and back is not for the feint hearted but the view is terrific. Given the popularity of the site the facilities are primitive and do need an upgrade Proper walking tracks to restrict damage . Paved carparking and decent toilet facilities. This does detract rather than enhance a brilliant location.

I could not believe how many people were there. A solid stream of people of all ages shapes and sizes trudging through the sand up over a hill and down twice as far. The view is breathtaking but you need to be prepared for the extreme heat during that walk back to the parking lot.

It’s about 1 1/2 miles round trip but well worth the walk. The beauty is amazing. We went towards the end of the day but think probably going midday with the sun directly above would have been better

We went to horseshoe bend for the sunset. A park Ranger told us to go early because sunset is a popular time. The parking lot is not that big and they close the entrance of and don't let people in if the parking lot is full. The hike to the bend is fairly easy. There is no barrier to the edge so it could be easy to fall off of you aren't paying attention.

A good - great view over the river and layer of rocks. Many people and a lot of cars. We came late in the afternoon.
